Nielsen Fast Nationals From Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Ratings-Tm-3-56 FOX takes first and second with So You Think You Can Dance having 4.0/12 and 3.8/13 for the 8 o'clock hour. And third went to NBC's Dateline having 2.4/7. And forth would be CBS’s AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies (special) having 2.3/7.

For the complete ratings from last night and who won the night (in key demos), stick around after the jump. . .

I have never been one that enjoys to dance, with the exceptions of when I was a child pretending to be Robert Plant, David Lee Roth, etc... Other than that, I did love doing a tribal rain dance, where it actually poured down rain after the dance. I know what you're thinking for those of you who know that I was raised in Texas -- doesn't it always rain in Texas? Yeah, but, this was a clear blue sky and after the fifteen minute bouncing up and down rain dance -- Bam! A full on thunderstorm. Now, maybe our guide knew that it was going to rain by watching the weather report, but how many times are those guys accurate? And how did she know that it was going to turn into a thunderstorm in fifteen or so minutes. I believe that our dance worked. I don't care what any of you say.

Oh! That's right, I'm supposed to be writing about TV. Well, I tried watching the So you think you can dance show last night, but there is just something that is not masculine about that kind of dancing and, sorry, but I couldn't watch it for longer than 5 minutes. Shows you what I know, they went on to take first and second place last night. I guess I should be receiving a call from the networks any second now, "Can you come in and watch some shows to tell us what you hate?" They'll be ruling the air waves after my answers are turned in. ;-)

Who Won The Night

Rember this isn’t a chart

  • FOX 3.8/12
  • NBC 2.1/7
  • CBS 1.9/6

How do I read these ratings?

A Nielsen rating may look like this:

8pm - NBC - TVgasm The TV Show - 10.0/18

Focus on the 10.0/18. The RATING, 10.0, on the left represents the actual number of households that watched a show. One rating point equals 1,102,000 households. The SHARE, 18, on the right represents the show's proportion of the total households watching television at that time.

For example, TVgasms TV Show has a 10 rating/18 share. That means 11,020,000 households are tuned in to the show and 18% of all the households with a TV turned on are watching that show.

Ratings and Share are customarily broken down for various DEMOs -- a demographic grouping of viewers, like 18-49 adults or 2-12 children or 18-34 women, etc. Advertisers, and therefore networks, covet the 18-49 adult demo, and so tend to concentrate on that number.
