Ratings-TmRemember back in the day when The OC was a show people cared about? I admit, I never really got into it but it seems to me the death of Mischa Barton may not have been the best thing for the survival of the show in the ratings which last night nearly lost to The CWs Supernatural, which is kinda like losing a pie eating contest to Nicole Richie.

No shock that Survivor lead the 8 o'clock hour, but the big winner of the night was Grey's Anatomy. 1 out of every 5 TVs turned on last night was tuned into watch Meredith have a more positive outlook on life. . . seriously, what is the appeal of this show?

For all this and more, find last nights (18 - 49 year old) Nielson Ratings on major networks during prime time after the jump.

How do I read these ratings?

A Nielson rating may look like this:

8pm - NBC - TVgasm The TV Show - 10.0/18

Focus on the 10.0/18. The RATING, 10.0, on the left represents the actual number of households that watched a show. One rating point equals 1,102,000 households. The SHARE, 18, on the right represents the show's proportion of the total households watching television at that time. For example, TVgasms TV Show has a 10 rating/18 share. That means 11,020,000 households are tuned in to the show and 18% of all the households with a TV turned on are watching that show. Ratings and Share are customarily broken down for various DEMOs -- a demographic grouping of viewers, like 18-49 adults or 2-12 children or 18-34 women, etc. Advertisers, and therefore networks, covet the 18-49 adult demo, and so tend to concentrate on that number.

Bad news, Court_Love: in the total national ratings, The OC actually came in dead last.

ER? I assumed ER was on the verge of getting cancelled for the last 5 years.
I'm also surprised (but pleased) that Survivor is still doing so well. You hear people pooh-pooing it all the time.

wtf?! this is mildly depressing. dumbass survivor, boo.
yeah, i've been thinking that the OC should move to a diff night, why bother fighting against CSI freaks and hard core Grey's fans? Possibly they could even put it at 9c and draw in some LB fans that are wondering what to do. Boo to RW Denver as well. um, if i want to watch a bunch of people my age and younger screw everyone in sight, i could, i don't know, go to any bar in town or watch a porno. both of which sound much better than denver.

FOX!!!! you better not freakin cancel the OC. learn how to advertise and reach out to your target demographic dammit!

If the O.C. decided to change their time slot, then i'm sure it would have much better ratings.

FOX is stupid for putting it against the #1 hit show, Grey's. and the office is also really popular and so is CSI... it's one of those what were they thinking questions.
