The paper's Business section is also hard at work, reporting that the The Real World: Denver house is being turned into an "upscale lounge and restaurant."
Local father & son real-estate developers are expect to close on a deal today to buy the building for $3.3 million. They'll spend another $1.2 million renovating the property, to turn it into a joint with a "high end, urban feel-- something classy, not another sports bar."
And though they say they're hoping to cash in on the spot's notoriety and the show's publicity, the new owners won't be calling their drinkery the "Real World Heavy Drinking Emporium" when they open next summer.
The ghosts of the MTV drinking champions will live on in the "Abbey Restaurant & Lounge." They plan to keep about half the MTV decorations, including the Jeep Wrangler- turned-bar. Unfortunately, the courtyard will be turned into an outdoor bar.
No more hot tub.
