The CW is looking to continue its reality roll (Top Model, Beauty & The Geek, Pussycat Dolls) by adding a rural twist with Farmer Wants a Wife.
No, it's not an original idea! American Idol producers Fremantle based it on a UK series calld Farmer, again proving that England is the US network's equivalent of a farm league.
Ten women who've bombed out on big city dating will be introduced to a bachelor bumpkin, and then compete in a series of farm-related challenges like driving a tractor, and we can bet, milking a cow.
Fremantle's US boss Eugene Young says with a straight face that Farmer" will celebrate "the last of a dying breed., and he explains why so many are left lonely and without brides.
"Farmers really are some of the last real American heroes, but it's not a way of life for a lot of women," the big city producer explains. So if they don't hook by the time they're out of high school, they're basically screwed. Or not.
The CW has ordered up eight episodes.
