D**k in A Box, like last week's Apocalypto parody, works counter to Lorne Michaels' proven SNL form. Instead of establishing the premise, getting a weak laugh and then beating the joke into the ground for another mirthless eight minutes, this one takes a few seconds to sink in, then tops itself.
And just as the Apocalypto trailer seems to come from someone outside the SNL team, this one is set apart because it's from Andy Samberg and his Lonely Island video comedy crew, who all came on board SNL together last year. We don't know if it will turn out to be the next Lazy Sunday, but the form does signal hope for a creaky series with no standout stars, whose Christmas show seemed to take its cue from Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip.
(MONDAY MORNING UPDATE: NBC sees new potential for viral buzz. They're offering the UNCENSORED VERSION here.)

This was really LOL funny. JT as a host was one of the better shows I've seen this year, even though he cracked himself up during the skits a few times.

SNL has been pretty unwatchable the last couple years and this season in particular, but I was glad I tuned in to see this. I literally lauged until I cried. Even funnier than "Lazy Sunday".

This reminds me of a certain Big Pun song, actually.

You know...I thought they were saying cock in a box, which for some reason just makes me laugh a little louder.

Needless to say, the Secret Santa party my friends had on the evening that followed the airing of this song was highly inappropraite.
