NBC is hoping the combination of a young blonde, sunshine, a pool and portable toilets will make viewers miss Donald's fired assistant Carolyn a little less, and nudge the one-time hit at least back into the Top 50 when it moves to Sundays, starting with a 90-minute premiere on January 7th.
After NBC announced the eighteen contestants, local newspapers around the country began spotlighting their new favorite sons and daughters and potential statewide embarrassments.
The group is pretty typical, white, black, Asian, heavily NY- and LA-based, most in their mid-20s-- with a few in their late 30s (who may have more kowtowing experience), five attorneys, a couple of real estate types, the best female hockey player in America (huh?), a couple of hotties and some youthful entrepreneurs.
But one young player stands out as an early favorite:
Surya Yalamanchili of Cincinnati, Ohio is 24 years old, a brand manager and media strategist for Procter & Gamble. Surya was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania and was class president and commencement speaker at Rutgers University. NBC says Surya started a successful e-commerce strategy company at age 15 and worked full-time at a web company while in college.
We say Surya stands out, and would make a perfect husband for beautiful Ivanka!
As for the rest of the bunch:
There's Aaron from Fredericksburg, Virginia, a 25-year-old former college baseball star with a passion for real estate;

Heidi from Santa Monica, a 26-year-old national/international sales manager who grew up on a farm and began modelling at age 13;
James from Seattle, a 29-year-old Internet entrepreneur who emigrated from Korea at age four and started a $5,000 technology investment fund at age 18 and turned it into over $2 million by 23;
Jenn from Phoenix, a 26-year-old publicist who's also a features reporter on a local morning TV show;

And Tim from L.A., a 24-year-old tutoring company owner whose main passion is writing music and playing piano, and whose first album will be released early next year.
Stay tuned for more on the individual contestants. We'll be on the lookout for the embarrassing photos and more...

Love the view from the pool of the smog-shrouded city.
