'The L Word' straps on a fan writing contest

The "L" in The L Word, which is supposed to mean all sorts of other things besides "lesbian" in Showtime's girl-on-girl drama series, can now stand for "lotsa writers", with the launch of an L Word contest that climaxes with the first "fan-scripted scene" in television series history.

Funny that the insertion of fan fiction in a TV series would begin on a show about lesbians, since the fanfic genre is highlighted by sex fantasies about Captain Kirk getting it on with Mr. Spock. In this case, fans are invited to reimagine a scene from L's season one or two that wil be rated by other fans and ultimately judged by a panel including the show's creator and executive producer, Ilene Chaiken.
