Fat comic jumps Price list-- and it ain't Rosie

With Bob Barker backing off from his endorsement of Rosie O"Donnell and that nerdy Milhouse-looking CBS weatherman hopping around in the wings, a new name has risen to the top of the list of contenders to host The Price Is Right.

Drew Carey is about the same build as Rosie, but a little less butch and definitely more mainstream-friendly.

Variety is repoting that CBS and the producers, FreeMantle North America have been talking to Carey, who made his bones as a game show host on Who's Line Is It Anyway? and is already set to host the CBS primetime quiz show Power of 10. If he gets the gig, Carey would pull double duty, liek Regis Philbin did with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Live!.

Nothing's decided yet.

Old Bob Barker stepped out of retiurement yesterday to tell the Associated Press that his remarks apparently endorsing Rosie were misinterprted. "I have not been asked for my opinion, nor have I expressed one," He claimed. "I think there are several candidates who could do the show, and Rosie is certainly one of them."

They were probably holding back his last paycheck.
