Aha! But it gets more complicated...
Lately, Leno has been squeaking that he maybe wants to stay, and NBC, which is making tons of money from Leno's lowbrow, often amateurish show (see The Late Show with David Letterman for comparison), has been letting rumours fly that they may let Conan go with a $40-million dollar bye-bye.
And that could be bad, or at least merciful news for Jimmy Kimmel.
Because Conan could go to ABC, put Kimmel out of his misery and possibly even knock Nightline out of the picture and make it a three-way race at 11:30.
Stewart's deal with Comedy Central for the The Daily Show With Jon Stewart is up in 2008. He's been said to have his eye on Letterman's gig at CBS.
Officially, nobody's talking about the Broadcasting & Cable scoop. Stay tuned.

I've been counting down the days for Leno to leave. Please don't let this possible NBC scenario be true!

It is so enjoyable to see Jay Leno; I hope he changes his mind and not retire in 2009. As far as great laughs and talents go,Leno, Jon Steward,Steven Colbert,John Oliver-what a wonderful experience-great humor.
