What does Anna Paquin have in common with this sweet, elderly woman? Find out after the jump.....
The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendlar airs tonight on CBS at 9pm. It's the heroic story of a young, polish woman who risked her own life to save 2,500 jewish children. Irena smuggled these children out of the Warsaw ghetto just before it's demise. She found homes for them with Polish families & convents, giving them all Christian names & identities. After the war, she reunited as many of these children as she could with their real families. Anna Paquin portrays the young Irena who died last year at the age of 98.
This is a night of touching tales of real life. Lifetime Movie Channel has The Natalee Holloway Story at 8pm. It's based on the book written by Beth Holloway Twitty. She is the mother of Natalee, who disappeared in 2005 while on a school trip to Aruba. The focus is on Beth's desparate search for her daughter when authorities failed to find any evidence of what happened to her.
SCIFI has part #1 of the 2-part series Knights of Bloodsteel at 9pm. It's the tale of medevil heroes, an outlaw, an elf wizard, a con man, a goblin & a bounty hunter who fight to protect a magic metal called Bloodsteel. It is the source of all magical power on the world and is slowly running out. The BIG star is Christopher Lloyd who portrays Tesselink, a venerable senior elf and accomplished master of bloodsteel sorcery. I've read that this mini-series lacks in continuity & is somewhat all over the place at times, but the battle scenes & special effects are great.
Okay, let's move on to more comical fare for the evening, shall we? There are a number of new shows premiering tonight.
FOX is adding a new animated series to it's Sunday night cartoon line-up. Sit Down, Shut Up airs at 8:30pm, sandwiched between new episodes of The Simpsons & Family Guy. It's all about Knob Haven High School & it's faculty. Will Arnet & Jason Bateman lend their voices to the show. The early reviews say it sucks, but who's to say. I think Family Guy sucks & it's a huge success. Time will tell. Let me know what you think.
For strictly superficial entertainment, NBC has The 58th Annual Miss USA Pageant starting at 7pm tonight. Billy Bush & Nadine Velazquez are the host for this big event held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The only difference I see between this & the Miss America pageant is there is no 'talent' here. The girls are prettier too & I think they have implants. Kevin Rudoff & The Veronicas are the entertainment part. Oh yeh, Perez Hilton is one of the judges. WTF does that tell ya!
The Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels Reunion is on VH1 at 9pm. We get to see all the skanks back in one room together. I can't wait to see the Big-Boobed Blonde Bitches again, especially Ashley, who was the one who should have rocked Bret's world! I wonder if she's still living with that tattoo'd freak who spawned her kid? I hope Taya's been dumped already.... 'scuse me.. *puke*...
There is just soooo much going on tonight. What's next on the "must watch" list?
Season 8 of Law & Order: Criminal Intent is FINALLY here! It airs tonight on USA at 9pm. The gang is all back, except the last four episodes of the season will have Det. Eames doing double time. Julianne Nickolson will go on maternity leave & Kathryn Erbe will alternate between her current partner, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Nicholson's new partner, Jeff Goldblum. This is my favorite of the L & O shows & I'm glad to be seeing NEW episodes. Yay!
One more premiere..... TLC has Cake Boss at 10pm. Buddy Valastro is top baker at the family-run bakery in Hoboken, NJ. He's competed on the Food Network's Challenge competitions & now he has his own reality-based show. In the opener, we get to follow him around as he prepares for a photo spread of wedding cakes for Brides Magazine. I'm sure this is wholesome viewing.

i think the writing for Law & Order: Criminal Intent has become far more creative since it moved to US Network...and since it became less of a showcase for D'Nofrio's "brilliance and intensity" (which I have always thought was over-rated.)
I miss The Unit when it's gone (and CBS seems to pre-empt it alot,) but I might give the Hallmark movie a chance.
Oh. One more thing...I'm on Team Margie & Luke :)

The difference between Ron White and Dean Martin is that Dean had charm. I heard that a lot of his "drunkenness" was an act, but either way, he was a cute, charming drunk, not an icky redneck one.

Okay...I watched the Hallmark movie. And while the story was very moving, and Irena should be given as much praise and respect as Schindler and others who risked themselves to help (and who have received far more press)...the movie itself was a bit disconcerting.
Specifically the use of accents. If everyone on screen is supposed to be European, presumably speaking Polish, German, Yiddish, etc., but everyone is actually speaking English, WHY BOTHER WITH BAD ACCENTS? I found it distracting to listen to lines about "fadders" and "mudders." It was really unnecessary and annoying.

One more thing...did you know this incredible woman was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. But she lost...to Al Gore.
No. Justice.

I didn't get a chance to watch the Hallmark movie yet....
however, I did watch the new FOX cartoon & it really did SUCK! But I have to admit, Family Guy was funny not the dead cat part, but pot song was great.
Miss Kentucky came in 4th!
Breaking Bad was, once again, the best show of the night. Where else can you see exploding turtles!
The fight at the pit stop on AR was great.
... and you're right pixie... Ron White is no Dean Martin.
