We have a very busy night tonight. There is so much happening. "America's Next Top Model" on CW at 8pm, is down to the final 3 models who must make their cosmetic commercials for the judges. We will find out tonight which two models will walk the winding runway next week for the finale! (Samantha for the win.) One reality show ends, so must another begin. BRAVO's season premiere of "Top Chef" starts tonight at 10pm, in New York City. Let's jump and get to it........
FTW!
Did anyone watch the new shows last night? If you have, let me know what you thought. I'm interested in "Cha$e" and "BLUSH". I have them recorded, but haven't had a chance to pick them apart.
Mr. Nielson has determined that Andy Rooney is #1. Here are his picks for the week of Nov. 3-9th.
1. 60 Minutes (18.5mil) WOW! This is a surprise. Must be because the football game ran over into it's spot by 1/2 hr.
2. CSI (18.2 mil) Still the #1 drama.
3. Sunday Night Football (17.6 mil) The Jocks have spoken!
4. Dancing With the Stars (17mil) The Grandmas have spoken!
5. Desperate Housewives (15.9 mil) The Pathetic have spoken!
6. Dancing With the Stars: Results (15.8) Samantha Harris RULES!
7. Grey's Anatomy (15.7 mil) Dr. Hahn's swan song.
8. SNL Presidential Bash (14.4 mil) Tina Palin's finale.
9. Criminal Minds (14.3 mil) The Couch Potatoes have spoken!
10. ABC's Vote 2008 (13.2 mil) "Yes We Can".
Here are this week's runner-ups.
11. Two and a Half Men (12.8 mil) Charlie's still at it.
12. CSI: Miami (12.7 mil)
tie. Cold Case (12.7 mil)
14. NBC's Decision '08 (12.5 mil)
15. Survivor: Gabon (12.0 mil)
16. CSI: NY (11.8 mil)
17. The Amazing Race (11.7 mil)
18. NUMB3RS (11.3 mil)
19. NCIS (repeat) (11.2 mil)
20. Eleventh Hour (10.9 mil)
There is no sign of "The Mentalist", the only new show to make it to the 'Top Ten' in recent weeks. It's not even in the top twenty. "Eleventh Hour". however, has made #20. My only surprise is (besides Desperates Whores) is the fact that all three CSI's are in the top 20. Most of these shows were totally overlooked by the "People's Choice Awards" which still makes me wonder who these "people" are.
Okay, let's check out what shows might make Mr. Nielson happy this week. I know the "42nd Annual Country Music Awards", on ABC tonight at 8pm, will definitely make the "Top Ten" list. It will be hosted by last year's winners, Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood. I'm not a C&W fan, but I do know this is a big night.
Nominees for "Entertainer of the Year":
Kevin Chesney (3 time winner & up for 7 awards tonight)
Brad Paisley (He was great on DWTS last night)
George Strait (The old man's still got it!)
SugarLand (Girls Rule!)
Keith Urban (The Aussie's in it for the win!)
"Top Chef" is back for Season #5 on BRAVO, tonight at 10pm. We have 17 'cheftestants' to weed through. One wears a hat (like Spike) and one 's name is Fabio. (my pick for the winner.) Gail leaves us early on, to run off and get married. She should be a sport & let our 'wannabes' cater her reception. Toby Young steps in to take her place. He knows nothing about cooking, but neither does Padma. (he looks like a real bald-headed asswipe, IMO) I'm so excited. Watch for our Master Recapper, Flipit to give us all the premiere details.
Okay, we need to get to the schedule, so here it is:
ABC:
"The 42nd Annual Country Music Awards" at 8pm. (special)
CBS:
"The New Adventures of Old Christine" at 8pm. (new)
"Gary Unmarried" at 8:30pm. (new)
"Criminal Minds" at 9pm. (new)
"CSI: NY" at 10pm. (new)
NBC:
"Knight Rider" at 8pm. (new)
"Life" at 9pm. (new)

"House" at 9pm. (repeat)
CW:
"America's Next Top Model" at 8pm. (new)
"Stylista" at 9pm. (new)
PBS is airing pt#1 of a three-part series, "Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work" at 8pm. The cameras will follow the Queen on a daily basis, to show the Brits that it's worth all that money in their budget to keep her around.
APL:
"After the Attack" at 8pm. (new)
"Animal Precinct" at 9pm. (new)
"K9 Cops" at 10pm. (new)
SciFi:
"GhostHunters" at 8pm (repeat) & 9pm. (new)
"Estate of Panic" at 10pm. (new)

The reason that "The Mentalist" wasn't in the Top Ten (or anywhere) was because it wasn't on last week. It's a Tuesday show, and that was Election Day!
I'm glad "Eleventh Hour" made it into the Top 20--it's a good show.

Well now, that explains alot doesn't it! Thanks pixielated. I'm a fan of "The Mentalist", but have yet to see "Eleventh Hour".

Eleventh Hour is improving.
CBS provides extra entertainment, though. They seem to hire the second tier actors for multiple shows...so you'll see the same actor appear on Cold Case, Eleventh Hour, Numbers, and Without A Trace all within a three week span. For example last week actor Henry Lubatti was an Eleventh Hour on Thursday, and Numbers on Friday. He'll probably pop up on something else this week.
Tim DeKay has been on NCIS, The New Adventures Of Old Christine, and CSI Miami just in the last few weeks.
And they rotate their daytime stars into nighttime cameos, as well. Michael Graziadei (from Yound and the Restless) did a guest shot on Criminal Minds...last week Eric Braeden (also of Y&R) was on How I Met Your Mother.
It must save money to hire actors for "stable style" casting.
But it's a good game to spot the actor, then try to remember the other CBS shows you've seen them in recently...although sometimes I cheat and use IMDB.

I was going to comment on the fact that "The Mentalist" wasn't on last week, but I see someone else already has. My Mom and I love this show so far! Last night's episode was really good and its nice to have something to watch on Tuesday nights for a change. Plus, Simon Baker is a total hottie. :-)

Agreed! Simon Baker IS a total hottie!
I need to apologize to KENNY Chesney. I called him Kevin Chesney in my post. I must have had a 'senior' moment!

Yeah, I enjoy The Mentalist. It's more light-hearted than Eleventh Hour. It's nice to see Simon Baker in a lighter role than he had on The Guardian--he never smiled on that one. (He was still hot, though!)
Is Henry Lubatti the thin-faced guy that played the ill-fated construction worker on Eleventh Hour? I thought I saw him on something else last week.

Yes, Lubatti was the ill-fated construction worker. He was on Numbers the next night...but it wouldn't surprise me if he was on something else last week, too.
At first I thought it was my imagination, but the "stable style" casting has become more apparent in the last two years.
I actually like it. Many of the second tier actors are extremely talented, and being different characters on many shows in a short amount of time shows the actors' diversity.
