Fitness & Beauty are the themes for tonight's programming. Gives my self-esteem such a boost. I need to restock the frig before I plop my ass on the couch tonight. Here's what I'm talking about........
There's alot happening tonight. So let's get to it. First things first..........
I'm so disappointed. I really was looking forward to "SuperStars of Dance" on NBC last night. I was hoping for the best of the best, the cream of the crop, the creme de la creme', as they say, but I was denied. This is another one where NBC's promos were better than the show itself (Rosie). What can I say, it was just plain boring. The judges were totally blah. The only one with an opinion was the dude from South Africa & he got boo'ed by the audience. Most of the dances were performed bare-foot. Len Goodman would have been appalled! The cultural dances had nothing in common with each other. How do you judge that? Overall, it just lacked one key element. EXCITEMENT! There was none. It just did not keep my attention. I wandered off to do the dishes! That says something right there. The best was saved for last. The Chinese Monks were the liveliest act of the night. They deserved a Bruno-style "TEN!" & got quite a few, but without the enthusiasum. I'm hoping things liven up as the show progresses. We shall see. It airs again tonight on NBC at it's regular 8pm time-slot.
Now for the "Fitness & Beauty" theme I was talking about.......
The 13th season of "The Bachelor" premieres tonight on ABC at 8pm. ABC is recycling another guy who was sent packing by a 'Bachelorette". This time it's Jason Mesnick, the single dad, who was dumped by that conceited, prima donna, DeAnna. Jason has a beavy of 25 beauties to pick from this season & on the first night, the girls get to vote for who they hate the most and want gone from the game. Jason, however, gets the final vote. By the end of the night, he's weeded out 10 & we are left with 15 wannabes.
The series premiere of "True Beauty" follows on ABC at 10pm. This is the show where all the contestants think they're in a beauty contest & the judges are looking for the phoneys. "Beauty comes from within" is their motto. We have 10 contestants, 6 girls & 4 guys. I like that they're bringing the men into this show. It makes them look just as superficial as the girls. Contestants will only find out about the twist after they've been booted, when they're shown clips of their narcissistic attitude during that week's challenge. The fact that Tyra Banks & Ashton Kutcher are involved in this show, gives me an uneasy feeling. Why does Ashton have his nose in so many shows? He's Kelso, for cristsake! And Tyra doesn't do anything that doesn't promote her.
"Diet Tribe" is a new reality show on LIFETIME at 10pm. Five fat friends go on a diet together for 90 days & get a TV show too! "From Fat to Fit" is their motto! Their goal is to lose 30 lbs each. That's a total of 150 lbs. I think they should try for 30 lbs jointly, don't you? That would only be 6 lbs each. Much more do-able. Who says you have to reach for the stars! Can they do it? Do I care?
The sixth season of the "National Body Challenge" on DSCHealth starts tonight at 8pm. This is an audience participation show. We get introduced to this season's six contestants tonight & are encouraged to log-in and join the challenge. These diet & fitness shows are going to kill me. I'm getting exhausted just typing about them. The networks are trying to punish me for all the cookies I ate over the holidays. They didn't hurt me a bit. My shoes still fit.
The premiere of "Daddy's Girls" begins tonight on MTV at 10:30pm. It's another spin-off show. This time it's "Run's House" daughters Angela & Vanessa "movin' on up" to the West coast with their BFF's Alycia & Jessica. MTV promises total hillarity as the girls take on LA life. I'm laughing already.
