CBS Fall Schedule

"I would never leave you Flipit dear."

As I said yesterday, CBS did indeed pick up Medium & put it on Friday nights following Ghost Whisperer. Check out the other changes CBS has made after the jump..........

CBS had no need to mess with their programming & for the most part, they didn't. Sorry guys, they dumped The Unit & Eleventh Hour. Also gone is Without a Trace which has consistently been in the "Top Twenty" on Mr. Nielson's list. The sitcom, Worst Week is a 'no deposit, no return' show too.

It appears they are directly challenging Jay Leno's 10pm time slot. Proof of that is The Mentalist's move to Thursday nights at 10pm. I think they're right. I'd rather look at Simon Baker, wouldn't you? For those keeping track, they've moved Cold Case back to Sunday nights, but now it will air at 10pm. I'm happy about this, I didn't like it on whatever night it used to be on.

"It's obvious.... Chooch would rather look at me."

The new shows they've picked up sound CBS-ish. The ratings giant, NCIS has finally got a spin-off series. NCIS: Los Angeles with Chris O'Connell & LL Cool J. It will follow it's daddy series on Tuesday nights until it finds it's wings & will now be referred to as NCIS: LA by me.

"It's okay. We can do this. If we need him, Daddy NCIS is just an hour away."

Julianna Marguiles is The Good Wife & her husband is NOT George Clooney, but he's BIG! He's Chris Noth! Get it.. Big... like Sex in the City Big. Oh alright, it's lame, but I had to. This show is considered a legal drama. Noth is a politician who's convicted in a sex and corruption scandal & Marguiles has to go back to work as a lawyer. The things we do for our men. This is a 10pm show on Tuesdays. I may check out Leno on this night.

Nope, definitely not George Clooney..... but he's Big! hehehe...

Three Rivers is a medical drama about a Pittsburgh transplant hospital. Alex O'Loughlin, that hot vampire from the short-lived Moonlight is one of the resident surgeons. At first I thought it was a baseball show because that's the name of the Pirates stadium. I could get into this one if it doesn't get sappy on me.

"Damn it Jim, I'm a surgeon not a vampire!"

The only new comedy is Accidentally On Purpose with Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg... she'll always be Dharma to me). She's a film critic for a newspaper & got "knocked up" (like the movie) after a one-night stand, "on purpose"! She decides to raise the child with its much-younger father. How far can this go? Until she has the kid? No one can stay pregnant forever. It will be placed in the Monday night sitcom line-up, pushing the Big Bang Theory to 9:30pm.

There are four shows waiting to be put on the schedule as Midseason replacements.

Miami Trauma, not to be confused with NBC's Trauma, is from the King of Drama, Jerry Bruckheimer. He's a busy man this season, pumping out shows for not only CBS, but ABC, NBC & TNT too. He should thank Jay Leno for all the work getting thrown his way.

The Bridge is another collaboration with Canadian CTV, much like Flashpoint was last season. It's a police drama which stars Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica) and will be seen in both Canada & the US.

There are two reality shows, Arranged Marriage which everyone says is self-explanatory. Sounds kinda creepy if you ask me. Isn't that what The Bachelor is? The other is Undercover Boss where a corporate level boss poses as a regular guy, starting out as a newbie, at the bottom of the workforce. Where do they get these people who do these shows. Maybe the guy will get fired.

Rules of Engagement & Flashpoint will both return during the winter turnover.

I'm heartbroken that The Unit and Eleventh Hour (which was a top 20 show) were both cancelled. They were both smartly written, greatly acted shows.

And then CBS picks up NBC leftovers? What are they thinking?

Also, Three Rivers looks like a disaster. I love Alex O'Laughlin, but despise Julia Ormond. And by definition, a show about organ transplants will feature death every week. No thanks.

MichaelC2B:

I am excited about Three Rivers - I know that if Alex O'Loughlin is in it that it will be fantastic!

I love Medium and think it will clinch that Friday night block for CBS. Great programming.

I had heard that Cold Case might be canceled; I'm glad they dumped Without a Trace instead. It had run its course and turned into a cartoon.

I'm sad about Eleventh Hour and The Unit; more so about Eleventh Hour because The Unit did have several seasons.
