Just what is this Manana Para Siempre everyone one is watching? Am I out of the loop again? Find out after the jump........
I've noticed this show popping up more & more each week, especially on the 18-49 Nielson list. I had to investigate & this is what I found out. Manana Para Siempre (Tomorrow is Forever) started airing on Univision on February 23, '09 in the US. It's a steamy Mexican soap opera about a beautiful, rich young girl ripped from the arms of her servant's son in a scandalous event which separated them for 15 years. When he returns (wealthy) to declare his eternal love for her, she is married to another. He seeks revenge on the ones he blames for their separation. All of this takes place on the family's massive dairy farm, "Grupo Lactos". (there's money in milk) The treachery & deceit threatens to keep the two lovers apart forever. This is no Ugly Betty! Now I have to watch. Have any of you seen this? Is there sub-titles ? ¡Ah, el drama de ello todo!
Once again, CBS dominates the ratings game. Over half the list is repeats of their shows. So You Think You Can Dance on FOX, managed to come in at #6 & ABC's The Bachelorette & Wipeout also squeezed in there with non-repeat programs. Things are so bad, that I even watched 2 hours of mindless Wipeout.
Here is Mr. Nielson's "Top Twenty" list for the week of June 15-21:
1. NCIS (r) CBS 10.4mil

Here's the "Top Ten" list for the Adults 18-49, which is always totally different then the 'total viewers" list. This being the list most advertisers use when placing their products, I must relent that I'm no longer in this group. I don't watch most of this sh*t. (I take that back. I DO watch SYTYCD.)

1. So You Think You Can Dance (Wed) FOX 4mil
2. So You Think You Can Dance (Thur) FOX 3.8mil

The ratings for TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 dropped dramatically last week, not even making the top 20. They lost 1.5 million viewers from the week before. Even though they didn't make this list, they will be #1 in the ratings next week. The overnight numbers for this Monday's "Special Announcement" episode had 10.6 million viewers watching, including me. It was the most watched show of the evening, even beating The Bachelorette on ABC (6.8 million).
The series premiere of Jada Pinkett Smith's new show Hawthorne on TNT made the cable list at #17, but don't expect to see it there again. Sorry Will's wife, your show sucked. The acting was awful, the storyline was anything but dramatic. The light-hearted moments were just stupid. Cloris Leachman's guest-starring role as an un co-operative pain-in-the-ass patient was the only redeeming part of the show & they up & killed her without a thought. Maybe I'm just used to gritty, fast-paced, traumatic medical shows & this is "none of the above". If you want to watch a good medical show, I recommend Nurse Jackie on Showtime.
Here is the "Top Twenty" cable shows for the week of June 15-21:

I, Melanie aka MelBell, promise to NEVER quit watching endless repeats of NCIS. I can't believe you would say such a thing, it is blasphemy! I will ALWAYS support Mark Harmon & NCIS! :-D
