Who is this freedom fighting Hero with a flaming sword? I'll tell you his tale after the jump.....
We rob from the rich and give to the poor, that's right!"
Not since Men in Tights have we had such a band of heroes. Comedy Central brings us Krod Mandoon & the Flaming Sword of Fire, a new series at 10pm, starring Sean Maguire as Krod Mandoon, freedom fighter, leading the resistance against the evil Chancellor Dongalor (Matt Lucas). The son of a blacksmith & a stay-at-home mom, our hero is a bit of a germaphobic, but he doesn't let that stop him from fighting the fight. Krod has assembled a band of loyal, but remarkably ineffective freedom fighters: Aneka (India de Beaufort) the beautiful Pagan warrioress whose weapon of choice is sex; Zezelryck (Kevin Hart) the young warlock whose greatest magical gift is talking bullshit, Loquasto (Steve Speirs) Krod's oafish half human/half swine servant & Bruce (Marques Ray) who's fierce and proud. Together, they must overcome a myriad of evil obstacles in their quest to save the world, including name-calling, hired assassins and a bisexual Cyclops (or biclops). This is definitely my kind of show!
There are also two other shows premiering tonight at 10pm. CBS has it's highly promoted Harper's Island. It's a 13 week series about a group of people on this resort island for a wedding. One by one they are murdered. This is a "who done it" with a twist. The cast doesn't even know who the killer is from week to week or even if their own character is going to die. One island & 25 people. Who will survive? Am I interested? I'm on the fence on this one. If it doesn't grab me the first week, I may not watch it again.
The other show premiering tonight at 10pm is NBC's new cop show, Southland. Michael Cudlitz plays Det. John Cooper, a seasoned LA cop, assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie). Cooper's honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer. The show is suppose to be fast-paced & gets us involved in the lives of the cops, criminals, victims and their families. I don't think we've had a successful cop show since NYPD Blues. Are we ready for one now?
NBC has everything new tonight starting with The Office at 8pm. Sandwiched between this & another new episode of The Office is the new comedy Parks & Recreation which premieres at 8:30pm. Amy Poelher was such a hit on SNL over this past political season that NBC decided she needed her own primetime sitcom. In their own words, "it's a new mockumentary that looks at the exciting world of local government. The new half-hour comedy will examine the mundane but necessary ways that people interact with their government." The big question is... will it be funny? We'll see.....
American Chopper starts it's 6th season at 9pm on TLC. They are building a bike for Northrop Grumman. It's called the B-2 Bomber. I'm still a fan of this show. It's not the fighting that keeps me watching, but the bike building. They've come a long way from the little shop in Orange County to this huge high-tech enterprise, but the bikes are still awesome!
Oh, and don't forget Survivor: Tocantins on CBS at 8pm. It's time for the big merge. The two tribes become one & everyone is wondeing if Joe is pulled from the game because of his infected wound. I don't think he goes anywhere. I could be wrong.
That's it for tonight. I will sample all the new shows tonight. Maybe I'll find something I like. Ya never know.
......... and what did you think of LOST last night? I was getting into the Ben backstory but the summoning of the "Smoke Monster" was disappointing. They seem to be filling in alot of the blanks & Locke is walking around like he's Christ & has risen from the dead to save us all. Just in time for Easter. Join us in the forum chat tonight while we listen to the TVGasm Radio show at 7pm est right here.

The only one of the new shows I'm willing to try is SouthLAnd...because I'm a Ben McKenzie fan.

choocher, I'm all set to DVR Harper's Island. I fell in love with Lost because of the mystery aspect of the show, so hopefully this will be a good one! Let me know what you think.

SouthLAnd was far better than I expected. Looks kind of like The Shield...only with a heart.
