This is just the beginning of some new & returning shows premiering this week (and some that are seeing their finales). Check it out after the jump.....
Tuesdays are a big night for television. ABC is trying out a new "dramedy" (I hate that stupid word). It's called Cupid & it premieres at 10:02pm right after Dancing With the Stars. Cupid is called "Trevor" in the real world of New York City. His task (ordered by Zeus on Mt. Olympus) is to bring together 100 couples in romantic bliss & all without the use of his famous bow & arrow. No, our Cupid must bring these people together with karoake nights at the bar he works at. Of course everyone thinks he's f*cked in the head & he spends a few months in a 'mental home', but he gets out when they are sure he's not a harm to himself or anyone else. He butts heads every week with his therapist, Dr. Claire McCree. Can you see where this is going? I can. They are going to fight all the time until they "fall for each other". Maybe it will work, but I'm afraid it's just going to be corny! I think one of the critics called it a modern version of Love Boat!
Over at FOX, right after American Idol (which airs at 8pm), at 9:20pm, is a sneak peek at the new variety show Osbournes: Reloaded. Those "oh so lovable" Osbournes are front & center again. I love Sharon, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the family. I'm hoping they don't just make a fool out of 'dear old dad', Ozzie. This show will probably become a ratings biggie for next weeks Nielson list. If it's good, it will keep it's AI lead-in audience at 9:30pm. If it sucks, people will switch to see the double elimination on DWTS. We shall see.
I need to take just a minute here to put in a legitimite bitch. Have any of you noticed the way the networks are trying to manipulate our viewing habits. It's most apparent when you are trying to schedule your DVR for the evening. They are starting & ending their programs at off-times. If you will notice, The Osbournes: Reloaded will start at 9:20pm. Cupid will begin at 10:02pm. Without a Trace begins at 10:01pm. This is purely a tactic to force your DVR to explode because it's little tiny hard-drive can't compute these 1 & 2 minute start times. Unlike our old time VCR's which you could set to record up to the minute, DVR can not. You can only change them in 5 minute intervals, thus a meltdown. I find this practice downright infuriating at times. I feel better now. Where were we?
OXYGEN is having it's Bad Girls Club Reunion tonight at 10pm (on-time). Perez Hilton is referee for this final smackdown fight of Season #3. Following this poor excuse for some final moments of asinine behavior is the debut of Pretty Wicked at 10:30pm.
Pretty Wicked is OXYGEN's first reality competition series. Here's how they put it. Do you use your looks to get ahead, get out of a traffic ticket, get a job, land a boyfriend or cut through the line at a trendy club? Ten divas from Oxygen's newest competition reality series 'Pretty Wicked' answer yes to all of the above. "Pretty Wicked" puts looks aside and has these prima donnas compete to see who is the most beautiful on the inside for a grand prize of $50,000. At least they won't be fighting over some has-been rocker.
My Boys returns for it's 3rd season on TBS at 10:30pm. Things start up right where they left off. Bobby still plans on marrying the swedish nanny, Elsa. PJ's still screwing around with Bobby's brother, Andy's bringing someone new into his family & the boys are having a mustache-growing contest. Things are good!
The Biggest Loser: Couples on NBC at 8pm has their two previous season winners, Michelle Aguilar & Ali Vincent hosting tonight's show in place of Ali Sweeney. The torture continues as they dangle the contestants over a pool & one contestant suffers a medical setback.
