TV Patrol: Dumb & Dummies

Will they all talk over each other?

Comedy Central has decided to give ventriloquist Jeff Dunham his own show, aptly called The Jeff Dunham Show & it premieres tonight at 9pm. Wanna know more.....

Dunham's plans are to start out the show with a live audience, doing skits with all his "dummies", such as crabby, old Walter, the purple-thingy guy called Peanut, Jose the Jalepeno on a Stick & his oddly more ridiculous Bubba, Sweet Daddy D & the repulsive skeleton, Achmed the Dead Terrorist. Don't get me wrong, I loved Jeff's act when I first saw it years ago. That's just it....it's still the same frikkin' act, same jokes, same sight gags & he stands there with a blank grin on his face while his adam's apple bobs vigorously up & down. I wish him luck, but I don't plan on watching. I've moved on.

Now this is something to watch......

Do they have 911 in Samoa?

When Jeff Probst says it's the most scared he's ever been in all the years he's done the show, you know that tonight's Survivor: Samoa, on CBS at 8pm, is going to be exciting. At least that's how they are editing it. Chief Russell, of the Galu tribe, goes down for the count during a challenge & the medics are called in. Will he die? leave the show? pass some gas & continue on? We'll just have to watch & see.

Atlanta housewives have such class!

Over at BRAVO, it's the season 2 finale of Real Housewives of Atlanta at 10pm. NeNe & Kim have a confrontation & fight over who has the better wig. They are both awful IMO. Then during the debut of Sheree's clothing line, NeNe, wanting more airtime, starts a catfight on the catwalk with Kandi. I'm sure fans will love all this bitch-slapping fun.

Photographic GOLD.

Lifetime has Project Runway at 10pm. Michael Kors has a secret challenge for the designers. It's called "Around the World in Two Days". I'm sure those remaining will give us something utterly awful again this week. I have yet to see any one of them do anything that made me go "WOW!". No imagination & most of all, no color. I can only hope things turn around tonight & maybe two will go home.... like Christopher & Nicolas....

"Please, SOMEONE... Make it work!"

ABC has all new episodes of:
Fast Forward at 8pm.
Grey's Anatomy at 9pm.
Private Practice at 10pm.

NBC has all new comedy episodes of:
Community at 8pm.
Parks & Recreation at 8:30pm.
The Office at 9pm.
30 Rock at 9:30pm.

Oh yeah, The Jay Leno Show is at 10pm, but I don't consider it a comedy. Hillary Swank is the guest.

CBS is running repeats of CSI & The Mentalist at 9 & 10pm.
The CW is also running repeats of Vampie Diaries & Supernatural at 8 & 9pm.

No November Sweeps

One final note. I found out yesterday that FOX is planning to shelve The Dollhouse for all of the "November Sweeps". It will return in December & will run back to back episodes on Friday night until all 13 episodes are aired. It's a definite sign that the show will be cancelled. This is a show that was worth a better time slot. It just makes me sad, but not unexpected. I'm thankful we got one more season.

There ya have it. My "Pick of the Night" is, of course, Survivor: Samoa. I need to know if CBS is bullshitting me about Chief Russell.

MelBell:

I'm kind of annoyed with CBS deciding to air the previews showing what Survivor gets hurt. They did it with the Amazing Race too showing which team looses their passport. It's one thing if I seek spoilers but another when it is shown during a commercial break. I know I can fast fowward during commercials, but today I happen to just have the TV on while I was in the kitchen and all the sudden I am seeing Russell go down during the challenge! errr.

I also can't believe there are already re-runs of CSI & the Mentalist, didn't the season just start?

Thx Chooch for putting this together!

pixielated:

MelBell, the reason they are showing reruns is that Sweeps Week is coming up in November and they need to conserve new episodes. I think they only shoot about 20-22 episodes per season now and it used to be 26.

MelBell:

Ah, I see that makes sense. Thanks pixielated for your infinte wisdom! ;-)

MelBell:

(Sorry for all my spelling mistakes and grammer errors! I should really proofread before I submit my comments because I can't go back and edit...d'oh)

cattyfan:

the networks in many cases are also declining to put fresh episodes up against the baseball playoffs.
