This may be an old pic, but at this time of year it always works for me.
Before we get to TV, I just want to take a moment & list the movies ratings for this long holiday weekend. It was the battle of the ex's for #1 and the dog beat the old man.......
1. Marley & Me - $37 million
2. Bedtime Stories - $28.1 million
3. The Curious Case Of Old Baby - $27 million
4. Valkyrie - $21.5 million
5. Yes Man - $16.4 million
6. Seven Pounds - $13.4 million
7. The Tale of Despereaux - $9.4 million
8. The Day The Earth Stood Still - $7.9 million
9. The Spirit - $6.5 million
10. Doubt - $5.7 million
Jennifer Aniston beat Brad Pitt by $10 million, but I'm sure he'll get a nomination for an Oscar & she'll get a nod from Animal Planet.
Ok, on to TV....
MTV is promoting it's "NEW" Monday Night. "The City" at 10 & 10:30pm, is a spin-off of "The Hills" starring Whitney Port. We get to follow her to New York City where she goes to work for top designer, Diane von Fursteberg. (she must be famous, she was on Project Runway once). This is suppose to be a 'reality' show just like it's mother & we all know how real that is. The only ones who will be watching are mindless teens, gay guys who still have HS issues & old ladies who wish they were still mindless teens.
"Bromance" also premieres tonight at 9pm. This show stars Brody Jenner & he's looking for a new BFF just like Paris Hilton did. MTV is claiming that this is a totally hetro-type friendship, but it sure sounds gay to me.
ABC is airing "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003) at 8pm, with Johnny Depp & Orlando Bloom.
CBS, FOX & the CW have opted to air reruns of their Monday night shows.
NBC has found yet another way to stretch out our holiday cheer with yet another clip show. This time it's home videos in "Greatest Holiday Moments: Hilarious Home Video Countdown" at 8pm. This is followed by a NEW episode of "Deal or No Deal" at 9pm. The icing on the cake is a NEW episode of their NEW show "Momma's Boys" at 10pm. (please make it go away!)
A&E is showing three episodes of "Intervention" starting at 8pm. The 9pm episode is NEW & deals with Brittany's drug addiction. (not Britney).
E! is spending the night with sensationalized murder, starting with "20 Most Horrifying Hollywood Murders" at 8pm (repeat) & a NEW special, "The Final Hours of Natalee Holloway: E! News Special" at 10pm. I find it a bit appalling that a young girl's murder is showcased on "entertainment news".
HISTORY Channel is starting a new series tonight at 9pm. "Seven Deadly Sins" will run for 7 episodes (of course) and delve into each of the famous sins, one at a time. Tonight they showcase "LUST", my favorite sin! (although I am partial to gluttony).
HBO has a documentary on this evening at 8pm. "Le Cirque: A Table in Heaven" takes a look at one of the most elite restaurants in New York City, Le Cirque. We get a candid look at owner Sirio Maccioni & his three sons. They disagree (fight) over how & who they should cater to when they close in 2004 & re-open in 2006 in the new Bloomberg Building. The boys target the younger crowd & dad still wants to kiss-ass with the celebrity elite. Sounds like a good reality show to me!
TCM is airing "Ron Howard: 50 Years in Film" at 8pm. There is an interview, some movie & TV clips, and even home movies. At 9:30pm, "Grand Theft Auto" (1977) Howard's first director's 'hit' airs. He stars in the movie as well. It also stars Marion Ross, who later becomes Richie's mom in "Happy Days".
VH1 has a new episode of "Real Chance of Love" at 9pm followed by a NEW countdown, "100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs" at 10pm. What song do you think makes #1?
Things are going to pick up really quick starting January 1st. There are so many new shows premiering in this month, I can barely keep track of them all. We will truly be into a 'second' season. I will keep you all updated.
love
chooch
