Hi Gasmii! I had the pleasure of attending a pre-screening of Comedy Central's new sketch comedy show "Chocolate News," starring David Alan Grier. From the chocolate martinis to the outrageous skits, I had a blast. Find out more about it, after the jump...
David Alan Grier is best known for his performances on In Living Color, where he shared the spotlight with then rising stars Jim Carrey and the Wayans brothers. In what is probably his most well known and popular role, Grier played homosexual film critic Antoine Merriweather alongside Damon Wayans, inventing hilarious new ways to give "two snaps up," and coining unforgettable catch phrases. Say it with me now... hated it!
Now Grier is back to his sketch comedy roots, and this time around he appears to be back with a vengence. No one is safe from the wrath of David Alan Grier. From hip hop artists to Maya Angelou, Grier gives us his no holds barred take on today's society, African American culture, politics, and any other controversial issue that gets in his way. All the while incoporating sketch comedy routines into news reporting.
Somewhere between "the n-word treaty" and the hip hop rapper singing the lyric "hey ho, hey bitch, show me how your cootchie twitch" to a classroom of fourth graders, I found myself practically choking on my chocolate covered pretzels and thinking, "did he really just say that!?"
It may be shocking at times, but if there's one audience that can appreciate this kind of unapologetic and perhaps offensive humor, it's us dear Gasmii.
Chocolate News airs Wednesday October 15th at 10:30 pm on Comedy Central.
