Little Loca gets a TV series

Everyone gives short shrift to the also-ran wanna be networks like The ("can't work") CW, but hidden within yesterday's fall schedule announcement was a landmark tidbit:

Online Nation, set to be trounced on Sunday nights under the weight of 60 Minutes, football and-- if it lasts so long-- Family Guy, features Stevie Ryan, better known as the YouTube character, Little Loca.

And though LonelyGirl15 actress Jessica Rose has filmed a bunch of episodes for Greek, ABC Family's upcoming college series, it's Stevie who's being touted as the first YouTube star to land a paid TV job (which leads to more talk and hope about network suits trolling the Web for talent, etc.).

Stevie, who's a cute character actress and nothing like the tough chiquita in her YouTube clips... (see below)...

... began posting her own self-produced videos on YouTube in 2006, made with a video camera borrowed from her boyfriend.

She'll be one of four hosts on Online Nation (not to be confused with Sicko Michael Moore's old TV Nation, CBS' new Kid Nation, or your own beloved Tabloid Baby Nation), which features funny and bizarre Internet video clips.

Online comedy team Rhett & Link and Joy Leslie will also jam the half-hour clip show.

And all this leads to some questions for you: Would you tune in a TV show to see Internet clips? Doesn't that ruin the fun? And the point? Isn't that what your computer at work is for?
