tracy%20morgan.jpgSomebody throw Tracy Morgan under a cold shower! And don’t let Alec Baldwin commit to another colorful supporting role in a motion picture just yet! Last night’s ratings for the struggling Saturday Night Live-inspired sitcom 30 Rock were so encouraging that NBC has given the show a full season pickup.

For the past two months, NBC execs had been giving the struggling show teenie-weenie three-episode orders. But last night they stuck the show at 9:30 behind Scrubs– and the ruse worked!

The ratings among those tasty 18-49 year olds jumped 25 percent over last week’s outing (hey, it was either that or changing the channel to the last half of a CSI rerun), so the suits who love seeing themselves parodied each week found all the reason they needed to keep the show alive. With the Rock order, every new NBC show has received a full season, order made it– all but for the fallen Kidnappedand 20 Good Years, whose demise was in the cards from its first excruciating preview.

We wonder if that loopy love note to 30 Rock in yesterday’s New York Times had anything to do with the renewal… In any case, movie star Baldwin gets to carry the show into another calendar year, Morgan (arrested again his week for drunk driving) will have to put off his stint in rehab, Rachel Dratch can stick more pins in her Jane Krakowski doll– and Tina Fey will get to know her baby daughter when she’s two.
