Jane runs into an apartment on the fifth floor (I think it’s the same one that Peter lived in, when he lived) and calls Henry to come find her. But Peter finds her first and tells her he has to kill her because in Heaven she’s going to be truly happy. He strikes the hatchet at her but it goes into the wall. A bunch of birds come out again and attack Peter until he falls to the floor. Henry runs into the apartment and rescues Jane, who is, understandably, freaking out.
The police interview residents and say they’re working on getting the power back on. Jane can’t give them any description of Peter because she couldn’t really see his face.
Meanwhile, in the apartment with the birds, the hatchet is stuck into the floor boards and one starling is hanging out on it. All of a sudden, the hatchet, bird and Peter’s “body” melt into the floor and the hole in the wall heals itself up. In another hallway, the guy who Peter killed also dissolves into the floor as if nothing happened.
Later that night, Jane lies awake after her ordeal fingering her necklace.
Next time: Gavin says someone took something. Jane talks to an NYC cop. Jane is menaced in the shower.
So what did you guys think? Obviously, they’re setting it up so Jane looks cray-cray. I’m actually starting to like Louise now, although I still think Brian is a wuss. And I still think Henry is dumb, but at least he is cute, right? And what could possibly have been stolen from Gavin that’s so important?
Sorry this is thin on details (and I’m sure I got something wrong since I haven’t been able to rewatch – so please correct me in the comments if that’s the case). Hopefully, next week things will be back to normal.
Thanks so much for reading and have a great day!

ohhhhhh… that Alexis is sooo freaking hot…im waiting for awesome bedroom moment..or i’ll settle for a shower moment..love the ghost kid but with her daddy gone it could mean shes gone..i wonder if that building is real??
@alice It is real its called The Ansonia.
I wish Nona was in this episode, since her vision of Jane happened.
I don’t understand why that Dr. guy told Louise he would give her something, if he knew she had become addicted. Was is so he could confront her about it or so she could make a pass at her?
I’m not surprised Jane isn’t the one who doesn’t want to get married. Why else would she get so defensive when people bring it up?
SnoopK8, glad to hear you’re safe! You had the perfect excuse to skip the recap this week, so thanks for getting one to us.
This episode had me going into full on speculations mode. Like, did the voice of the guy threatening Gavin on the phone remind anyone else of Tony’s voice (in terms of the cadence). I kind of have a feeling that Tony is not the total affable chump he’s presenting himself to be. And I also wonder if Olivia might not also be in on it — I wonder if she might be trying to find things out about her dear husband, in reaction to the “suicide” note from her daughter (although I have a feeling that we’re going to find out that her daughter isn’t really dead…)
And it seems as though they are suggesting that the little ghost girl is actually Olivia’s grandmother or great grandmother? But if she survived the massacre and grew up to have children, then why does she appear as a ghost in little girl form? But I guess we’ll find out when the time comes whether that speculation is true.
A few things still bug the hell out of me with this show though. The plot fascinates me, but so often the characters react in ways that make no damn sense.
Like Jane — why the hell would she run to basement to try to escape an axe murder, when she could just run to the lobby and either out the front entrance or into the party where there are loads of people to help her? And why, when she’s running from the guy with the axe, would she stop in the hallway to make a phone call to 911 (without telling the guy whose phone she’s borrowed that she’s being chased by a guy with an axe, by the way), instead of trying to get both of them to a place where they can hide from the guy who is chasing her? And in the same vein, why would she waste time hugging Henry in the doorway after she escapes axe guy the final time instead of grabbing him and saying”Do you have a gun? No? Then let’s get the hell out of here before the guy with the axe comes and hacks us!” I mean, yes, axe guy was incapacitated by the birds, but she couldn’t know that for sure. She didn’t even look over her shoulder to make sure he wasn’t coming.
And for the first time, Gavin joined the stupid train as well. If Olivia is so damn important to him (for the most part, he seems sincere about that sentiment) then why would he entrust her safety to the supposedly affable chump of a doorman rather than a) hiring her a real bodyguard or b) watching over her himself? Makes no damn sense.
Still loving the show though, and can’t wait to see what happens next…
I’m with you, Lizbot…I think Tony is the voice on the phone, same as Gasmask Man. I also think, too, that the little girl is either Jane’s grandmother, or is connected to said Grandma in the way back past and had given the necklace to her.
glad you’re safe — do you have power yet? we miraculously never lost ours (other than a few minutes), but almost everyone around us did, obviously.
i kinda wish they’d skip this peter trying to kill people in 2012 shit. i don’t see how it really adds anything to the show.
I thought the voice on the phone was Tony too. Since the beginning I thought Nona was Olivia’s dead daughter. After seeing Nona’s decaying grandmother in the wheelchair, I don’t know.
