Dancing With the Stars: Chooch
I’m not a fan of Chad Ochocinco BUT when he danced solo without his shirt, I melted. He was “pure chocolate” in every way! For the first time all season, I couldn’t take my eyes off of him…. and his pants were the same color as his skin… perfection!
Ok, let’s move on. The producers decided we needed to know a little more about our final four & we got a small look into their real lives between dances. Little interviews with friends & family made us like them more. We’ll start with the top two on this week’s “semi-final” leader board.
Nicole & Derek were very happy with their perfect scores last week, but afterwards it was apparent that Derek had pulled muscle in his shoulder & was in a great amount of pain. I thought they might bring in another pro to work with Nicole while Derek rested his injury. They’ve done this before, but Derek vowed to ‘work through his pain” for her. (awww!) After watching their Argentine Tango, you would never know he was ever in any kind of pain. It was PERFECT. Nicole’s leg hooks were amazing to watch & their sharp, straight-line lifts were a sight to behold. The judges were so excited, they could hardly contain themselves. Perfect scores 10-10-10=30.
Before the second dance, the cha-cha-cha, we got to see into Nicole’s world. Raised in Hawaii with 9 siblings, she was born to entertain. Her Grandma Tutu love entertaining by singing & playing her ukelele. She was adorable. They also showed Nicole’s extensive training in the arts. Her dance teacher knew that someday someone would see her shine. Puffy Daddy (or is it P. Diddy?) agreed.
The Cha-Cha was performed to Prince’s “Kiss” & Nicole was dressing in full Prince Purple! She did her solo right at the beginning, dancing with a chair. I knew that Len was going to frown on this & he did, claiming it showcased her dancing talent but not the cha-cha. Score: 10-9-10=29 Total 59.
Evan & Anna were determined to get some feelings & emotion into Evan’s dances. When she asked him what made him happy. He looked at her with a straight face & simply stated “Coffee”. Evan came out of his shell… and it was his love of COFFEE that finally connected him to his emotions. They’re Foxtrot was so energetic that Bruno suggested he was “high as a kite!” At times, I thought they were getting ahead of the music. 10-10-9+29
We got a peek at Evan’s life as an figure skater. The long hours & the great amount of “alone time” he had while perfecting his routines. Scott Hamilton suggested that this was the reason for his shyness. I agree. He definitely has no social skills, but boy can he skate!
AMAZING!!! That’s the ultimate word for Evan’s Paso Doble’. It’s my favorite latin dance & Evan nailed it in soooo many ways. Yes, I watched it twice. He had such power & strength that he just swept me right into it & that’s what makes it so good. Did he really give Anna a huge lip-lock at the end? I’m not sure… I played it back, but couldn’t tell if it was on the cheek or not. No matter, his proud strut at the end said it all. He was a MAN! The judges felt the same. 10-10-10=30 Best dance of the night, for sure. Total: 59
Erin & Maks are doin’ it. No doubt about it & they are a perfect pair in my opinion. She’s totally capable of putting up with his DIVA attitude. Something I don’t think his other GF’s ever could because they were too busy being divas too. Dance #1 was the Viennese Waltz. It was beautifully graceful. Those shiny blue satin pants were a bit different & kinda went up her butt a bit, but I liked them. Maks smiled thru the whole thing. She & the judges both claimed she was shaking & nervous. It never showed on camera. Even tho Bruno pulled out his “10″ paddle, he shouted out “9″. Score: 9-9-9=27
Erin got the chance to talk about her career & that her dad was a sportscaster too. he says he tried to sway her away from that path but couldn’t change her mind. Her awkwardness came at an early age, when she grew taller than all of her friends. She slouched to stay at their size. She, like Nicole, took dance & ballet during her youth & was always apologizing for her gangly arms & legs….. just like she still does with Maks. It was when she talked about her stalker that you really felt for her. The fact that this sick person was able to film her undressing thru a peep-hole, just shows how vulnerable & dangerous a public life truly is.
The Paso Doble was their second dance & it just didn’t wow me. It was good, but not powerful. At one point, during her solo, the camera went to a backstage scene for a moment. WTF? No explanation was ever given. The judges thought it was great. Bruno proclaimed that the mistakes made were Maks’ fault, not Erin’s, by blurting out “You were the one who fucked up!” The censors bleeped it, but it was obvious what he said. Len called the dance a “funky monkey type of paso doble” & wasn’t as keen on it as the others. Maks did manage to get his shirt off during their interview with Brooke, posing like a titan.10-9-10=29 Total: 56
Let’s move on to Chad & Cheryl. I’m pretty sure they’ll go home tonight. they have well exceeded their time on the show. The first dance was the Waltz. It was graceful & flowing, but it was very forced. He still looks like he’s thinking about his steps. Granted, he has no dance experience whatsoever & the judges drove that home in their critique. They gave him cudos for going this far with so little. During rehearsal, he told Cheryl she deserved a better ‘celebrity’ for a partner so she could be like Derek. I think they’re doin’ it too. Score: 9-9-9=27
For Chad’s “this is your life” moments, we got to see what pushed him into football. I’m sorry, I can’t tell you more. I took this time to let the dogs out. Chad does that to me.
The Samba is my least favorite dance. The judges claim it’s the hardest of all the latin dances. I find it a bore, that is until Chad took off his shirt & danced solo. Well, you know how I felt about that. HOT! Is it me, or does Cheryl dance the same move in every single latin dance. Hip twirls, hand on the man’s chest, push off & twist, arm shooting up & snapping back… over & over & over… same, same, same…. The judges, once again, praised Chad for how far he’s come with no experience. Score: 25 Total: 52
Just a little side note: Brooke Burke’s boobs were definitely the stars of the show last night. I couldn’t stop looking at them. They were just bursting to be seen!
Tonight MileyCyrus is back to perform. We will finally see the fan costumed, choreographed Melissa Rycroft/Joey Fatone Tango. Sarah McLachlin will also sing. (I hope it’s not that sad shelter dogs song). Oh yeh… the college kids are back for a final dance-off too. Lots of filler!
If you like it, spread it!:
