Not to be a bastard and find certain parallels between one tragedy and another, an eerie similarity came to my attention that I thought was worthy of the Gasm Pages.
After a 911 audio tape, from October 1993, was front page news for the tabloids, Nicole Brown Simpson was quoted as saying, “It’s a tabloid and not a true reflection of our relationship.”
After an Amazing Race video moment, from was front page news for bloggers, Victoria Fuller, on her website, was quoted as saying. “Don’t worry, I am fine. It’s a TV show and not a true reflection of our relationship.”
When I was in kindergarten, I was accused of cheating on a spelling test. Trust me, this is going somewhere. To this day, I remember the words. Yellow, Blue, Purple, Brown, Black and Green. The situation looked bad. We were taking the test and the words which I had studied were left out and open near my desk, so when she walked by, from her certain angle, it appeared as though I was cheating. I tried to explain it was an accident and I didn’t know it was open. I tried to explain I couldn’t even see the book from where I was. I tried to explain in anyway I could with my kindergarten mentality, that it was a misunderstanding. But in the end, she called my mom and dad, and i got in trouble! I was so stubborn “I DIDN’T CHEAT!” Guess what? Despite all my sincere sounding excuses for why the circumstances weren’t depicting the truth, the fact of the matter was, I totally cheated. I cheated, I got caught and I learned my lesson.
Jonathan and Victoria have been making excuses on their website since the second episode for what appears to be “abusive behavior” after the jump enjoy the week by week spin control by OJ and Nicole Br– sorry, Jonathan and Victoria directly from their website. How long until they learn their lesson?

We want all of you to know that yes we are human and yes we fight but in the end we do love each other. The stress from the Race brought out the unknown and this is what you are seeing. We are true fans of The Amazing Race and loved every second of running it. Jonathan was colorful and crazy on the show because he could be and just wanted to have fun with the experience.
We hope you can have fun with us as we laugh at ourselves on The Amazing Race 6.

All of us have our faults. Unfortunately for me millions of viewers are getting to see mine each week. I do not abuse Victoria,
what you see is a heighten version of stress and obsession mix with medication for a sickness called Sarcoidosis. What was started as a Publicity Stunt turn in to an obsession to race and be first at any cost. This is a GAME and I set out to be the Villain to others not to Victoria. Victoria and I are working on our relationship to better our self and learn from our mistakes. I am taking full responsibly for my actions on screen. Please allow me to make the effort.
I am deeply saddened by the storyline that CBS went with. I am sorry for my actions, I am sorry to Victoria. Most all I am sorry to the Fans of the Amazing Race.

Don’t worry, I am fine. Its a TV show and not a true reflection of our relationship. We both over reacted.

My Prediction for a future post:

Sure, sure John !!!! You are a stud and everyone bows to you!!!
For some reason I can’t post the following comment on their website. I find it peculiar that the majority of the other posts are expressing understanding and sympathy for Jonathon and his “character” portrayal! WTF! Here’s what I tried to post 2x now.
“Those were real tears she was crying at the end of last weeks episode. You can’t continue to make excuses for your abusive (mentally and physically) relationship. I wish Phil had smacked you upside the head when stepped on the mat. You are both a disgrace, Victoria for defending your actions and you for having the gall to abuse your wife on national television!”
Anybody remember Jase? Or ever try to post something scathing about his eyebrows on his website? Yeah, that wouldn’t go up wither. They filter everything.
Some people are sick. Johnathan, OJ, Star Jones. It’s sad.
Why do you think her right eye is hidden from view in the wedding photo?
“Most all I am sorry to the Fans of the Amazing Race”
um you should most sorry to your WIFE!
he freaking pushed her and she fell- on national TV! if she is dumb enough to not realize the abusive she is receiving and sticks around for more, then she deserves it.
i wrote to his website the day after the shove seen around the world and i recieved the exact response that you did. committing battery on national television, check. form letter apology, check. taking responsibility for being a jackhole. priceless.
Since when is blaming the victim appropriate? Victoria deserves to be abused if she stays with Jonathan? I don’t think so. Women stay in abusive relationships for many reasons…fear, financial security, even protection of property and family pets. Jonathan is clearly an asshole and Victoria clearly should leave him, but she doesn’t deserve to be abused because she stays with him.
Sorry for the Victimology 101 lesson, but it had to be said!
I actually submitted a complaint e-mail to CBS for allowing Jonathan to continue on the show after the shove. CBS is to blame for allowing this abuse to be showcased to people all over. They are making it ok for men to verbally and physically abuse their wives and I think the FCC should be more concerned about these violations than nipples or sex.
Of course, I never heard back from CBS…I suggest you all go to cbs.com and send a complaint.
B-Rock, how can you blame CBS for showing something that simply happened in front of their cameras? CBS isn’t to blame because Jonathan abuses his wife in public or because Miss Jackson flashes a boob. If you want more restrictive policies on your viewing habits then ditch your TV and move to the middle east. They have a LOT of moral integrity and I bet you can’t get any boobs or abuse on tv. You will be perfectly happy there!
B-Rock is right. CBS isn’t responsible for Jonathan acting like an asshole. But they should ACT RESPONSIBLY by saying ‘hey, this shit doesn’t fly here’ and disqualify him from the competition. Its not a matter of puritan censorship- (sex/nudity/profanity for only certain audience members) abuse is wrong and should not be rewarded under any circumstances.
OK, I get it. If CBS disqualifies Jon & Vicki then the abuse goes away…yeah, right. Let’s say CBS disqualifies the two and the abuse continues at home. What does disqualification do? There’s still a problem, and CBS showing Jonathan’s behavior on national TV does more to highlight the issue and perhaps shock or shame Vicki into reality than to send them home and say you guys deal with this.
Finally, only five or six episodes have aired. Perhaps the producers, Phil or another team ran a steak through Jonathan’s heart and told him what an abusive ass he’s being to his wife. Maybe he realized his behavior is both mentally and physically abusive and he made a change. We don’t know. Perhaps that’s why CBS hasn’t disqualified them. Perhaps the confidentiality clause in their contract with TAR prevents them from saying “look we know what the problem is and we fixed it on episode 8.”
Regardless, CBS has not addressed the issue at all, which is completely irresponsible. After Jonathan shoved Victoria, they should have been eliminated from the race and he should have been arrested or they should have been sent to counseling. Now there’s some reality TV that we’d like to see!!!
“We know what the problem was and fixed it in episode 8?” Unless the clue box was in a therapist’s office and the pit stop was for several weeks, I doubt that is the case.
CBS is irresponsible not for showing what happened, but for allowing him to continue and not providing intervention.
