Ellen to host Idol charity event

Ellen DeGeneres, not you, will host the Wednesday edition of American Idol‘s two-night Idol Gives Back special this week.

The two-night fundraiser benefits relief programs for poor kids in Africa and the US. It will feature a whole passel of celebs including Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Gwen Stefani, a big bunch of Brits and Celine Dion (who may be performing a duet with a video clip of Elvis Presley– a la Natalie Cole and her dead dad).
Idol will have a regular 60-minute edition Tuesday night featuring songs with inspirational themes. Ellen will host the two-hour live show and telethon that will air from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown L.A. Money will be raised and one of the Final 6 contestants will go home.
