Reality Blurred has all sorts of exciting news about this week’s American Idol events. First and foremost is that unlike previous years, Katharine and Taylor will not be singing the same, cheesy, forgettable, absolutely awful, made-for-Idol song. Instead, they’ll be singing different, cheesy, forgettable, absolutely awful, made-for-Idol songs. So now we have twice the reasons to wonder why the show can’t put as much time and effort into crafting a decent song as it does into finding a singer.

Even more exciting is news that on Wednesday’s extra-long, two hour finale extravaganza, the top four finalists will be singing duets. Chris Daughtry will be paired with the band Live, Elliot will team up with Mary J. Blige (perhaps to sing “Beauty and the Beast”?), Taylor will be joined with a yet-to-be-determined act (Michael McDonald, perhaps? Rick Astley?), and Katharine — she has the glory of singing with… Meat Loaf! Insert balloon-deflating noise here. What on Earth did she do to deserve this fate? Was it because of the wardrobe malfunction? Her complaints to the judges? If I were her, I’d firmly tell the producers, “I will do anything for Idol, but I won’t do that.” Nyuck nyuck nyuck.

And elsewhere in the wonderful Idol news department, Daniel Powter and his strange face will perform “Bad Day” on the Wednesday telecast. You may have heard the song before. They play it on the show every now and then. Really catchy tune! Never annoying! For more news, check out Reality Blurred.

I had actually been wondering if Wednesday night would be a two-fer of Bad Day — once live and then once after the loser gets the boot.

I am actually intrigued by a Kat/Meatloaf duet. I smell some Paradise by the Dashboard Light coming our way….

This sounds like a reason to watch. Nobody loves a trainwreck more than me. Definitely Paradise By the Dashboard Light.

I thought it was some kind of rule that you have to be drunk to sing Paradise…? Or was that drunk to listen to it? I guess I’ll be breaking out the Captain tonight.

Ugh. Does this mean even Meatloaf has a new recording? Another old rocker doing older ballads? If I were Kat the words “like a bat out of hell” would be especially meaningful here. RUN!

I Kelly Reality Blurred! Can’t begin a morning without checking out TVgasm and Reality Blurred.

The latest rumor I’ve read is Elton John is going to perform with Taylor…but I’ll believe it when I see it.

    Here’s what should happen tonight:

McPhee should take the mike, step forward and gracefully (McPHee?) say:

“I can no longer go forward in this competition. I do not belong here, in the Final Two. I would like to relinquish my position to Elliot Yamin, who will in turn, give it back to Chris Daughtry. It’s the only way that I’ll be able to be at peace with myself. Thank you FOX, er, I mean, ah, America, for believing in me. But I just can’t do this anymore…”

*poof!* Wha-? What? What happened? Is it morning already? I just had the most amazing dream…

Boy, the producers must hate her? Guess they haven’t caught the McFever!

Maybe Meatloaf and McBoobies will do a rock version of ‘over the rainbow’.
