regisrecord.jpgYou’d figure at 75 years old, after triple bypass heart surgery, an old guy would want to take it easy for awhile. But not Regis Philbin.

In a move that surely made Jeff Probst, Mark Consuelos and Andy Cooper all say “Damn it!”, he phoned in to Live with Regis & Kelly this morning to say he’ll be back hosting his show on April 26th (for some reason, a Thursday).

That will be about six weeks after triple bypass heart bypass surgery– probably on the edge of the doctor’s recommended rest period and just before the time the audience will have gotten used to life without him.

And who are you calling “tabloid”? The New York Times reminds us that the last time Reege (or “Reej,” if you’re a Sanjaya fan) called the show, he complained about not having sex for three and a half months.

Today, he said he was up to ”five times a week.”

(POP QUIZ: Do you believe him?)Regis’ health may have cost him at least one TV job– his summer moonlighting gig. Jerry Springer, a spry, fresh-faced 63, will take over as host for the second season of America’s Got Talent on NBC.
