Don’t you love makeover time on America’s Next Top Model? For starters, it is truly interesting to see the type of vision that the judges had when they were picking the contestants. If a girl who is one of your favorites gets a good makeover, it means you’ll have an easier time cheering her on, and even if a girl you aren’t rooting for gets a great new look, at least you know you’ll be enjoying the show with a little less fug. Personally, I also enjoy watching the people complain about their new makeovers. Even if you get the worst makeover in the history of the world, your ability to rock out with what you have can really help you go far, as Jade proved last year. If any of these girls knew what it takes to succeed in the industry, why sign up for a reality show?Before I get into the heart of my recap, let me take a little time to talk about the new intro. As I mentioned last week, Tyra admitted that it was her own voice belting out the lyrics to the ANTM theme song. I don’t what to say about the actual quality of the song or anything, but if you’re anything like me, you have absolutely no problem hearing Tyra say “You wanna be on top?” over and over again. Week after week. Year after year. It’s almost as if she was right there on the couch next to me when I’m watching… ahhh… Oh where were we? Anybody else need a cold shower?
As far as first episode eliminations go, Chrisitan is probably among the top three, but let’s be honest, we are pretty much used to this shit by now, aren’t we? Melrose was very happy, as you would expect, but being so close to elimination put her in tears. I think that most of the girls were just happy that they didn’t have to face elimination, but Monique was not buying into this whole “tears” thing. She said that Melrose’s tears weren’t real and that overall Melrose was very fake. Melrose might not be one of my favorites, but I don’t think that she has come off as fake. Monique, on the other hand, is just piling up the bitchy stats. If ANTM was a football game, her helmet would have a bunch of those merit stickers, as long as they gave merit stickers for being a huge bitch.
Our first Tyra mail of the day informed the girls that Tyra needs two glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice every morning to get her through the day. Looking at Tyra these days, I think she is washing that OJ down with some bacon, but overall, pretty good words to live by. The rest of the message informed the girls that they would be going somewhere for breakfast early in the morning. I am sure that there are many out there enlist the aid of an alarm clock to make sure they get up with enough time to look their best, and for the most part society has learned to live with the minor drawbacks of alarm clocks because we would rather not be late for work, dentist visits, or mystic tan appointments. Monique is not one of those people.
What the hell is Melrose looking at?
I will admit, there are things that suck about an alarm clock. Anybody who has had to share a wall with somebody who A) turns the volume on the alarm clock way up or B) likes to listen to that annoying buzzer for thirty minutes straight without hitting the snooze button knows the feeling of waking up before you were ready and then thinking how difficult it would be to fashion a device to wake said neighbor with a ball peen hammer. Monique was quite upset that some of the girls were using alarm clocks, but what is the big deal? You are going to the exact same place AND NEED TO LEAVE AT THE EXACT SAME. Besides, wasn’t she the one that said she needed to take over an hour in the shower? Would it not be a good idea to wake up before everybody else so you have enough time?
I dunno if I like Anchal’s whole look. Yeah she’s pretty, but she’s not ALL that and then some.
She just has a look you don’t see often in the lime light.
I didn’t get to see the episode (gonna watch the encore Sunday)… but I really hope they tweezed down those manbrows of hers.
And it is stupid that the photoshoot didn’t show off their new looks.
Isn’t that the point of giving them the new look to see if they can rock it or not?
You switched the pictures around. The one of “Michelle” was actually Amanda’s and vice versa. I think.
My favorites are AJ, Anchal and Brooke. I like them all actually (yes, including the twins – but I like Michelle better of the two) and the only one that I really hate is Monique aka this season’s resident bitch. I really hated both Megan and Jaeda’s haircuts though…Jaeda’s isn’t that bad, it just depends how she styles it, but I think that Megan looks awful as a blonde..and they both sort of resemble Peter Pan at the moment..
I really love Anchal. I am so glad that she got in Monique’s face about that phone thing…she actually did end up hanging it up, but Monique still kept at it for another hour and a half…bitch. She’s *almost* as bad as Jade…but Jade was more cocky than bitchy I would say…although it was a close combination..but it is only the 2nd episode…Monique could turn out to be the bitchiest ever as the season goes on…

Why Megan? Why Jaeda? These two girls are so hot I have to get a screencapture of them for my desktop wallpaper. Megan, one of the prettiest girls there eliminated for what reason? I didn’t catch it. Maybe the panel only want all the fugly and bitchy ones left. AAAARRRGGG! No more wet dreams. LOL. Melrose should have hit the road.
I thought Jaeda looked pretty before but she went to the next level with the makeover. She can truly be a top model if not a movie vixen. HOT.
Michelle looked great but Amanda WOWed me. She looked like a beautiful bird with big blue eyes that popped. The eyes seemed to say “cook me up and serve me for Thanksgiving dinner”. Hellooo!
It was great to see Queen Latifah splitting the seams on those tight pants she was wearing. Welcome Into My Queendome. Although it seemed the Queen was less than thrilled to be critiquing the girls and couldn’t wait to hit the road. Perhaps it was because she was tiring of holding back her lesbian desires for them. I kid the Queen. I love the Queen.
I am waiting for someone to slap that beoytch Monique. On the phone for 3 1/2 hours and her mother just condoning her behavior. J. Alexander had enough of her and was about to explode on her after the makeover. J. unleash your inner homo and let that bitch have it! Plus she hadn’t taken one good pic yet.
When did Bjork audition for ANTM? Oh, sorry. It’s just Megg posing as Bjork.
Who the hell thought of putting spinning donuts on Megan’s hair? When Jay yelled “activate the spinning hair” I almost shitted my pants.
PS. Would have loved if Ms. Bankable used Queen Latifah’s song “Come Into My House” for the photoshoot. GIVE ME BODY indeed.
I thought that Melrose’s make-up made her either look like the thing’s female counterpart, or like she had some vd in her eye.
I don’t agree with them getting rid of Megan. She definatly had more potential than some of the others.
What I want to know is how come Eugenia is hanging out w/ Monique—ddn’t that bitch steal her bad in the last episode (and just a day or two ago for them in real life?) She must be the very forgiving type.
I think Brooke’s makeover looked the best, she reminds me of Mena Suvari now & her eyes stand out in a great way. She’s so cute on screen but not in her photos. Megg’s makeover was the worst, looks like Blossom more than ever now—where is this rock & roll dork from anywys? I liked Megan a lot & I really ddn’t thnk ths picture was bad at all, her face looked cute! But I ddn’t thnk the plat. blonde suited her that much. Sad to see her go. AJ looks pretty as goth or lite brown, tho ths pix was awful. Eugenia needs Proactiv, pronto The twins remind me a li’l of Shandy, from season 2 (?)–not so impressive in real life, but quite so in photos.
I’m disappointed that Megan has already been eliminated! I thought she looked great. Her picture sucked bu it’s not her fault they stuck carwash brushes on her head. At least I still have AJ, Anchal, Brooke and CariDee to root for.
And how is there no mention of what Monique’s mom was telling her on the phone?? She was pretty much telling Monique to continue treating the other girls like shit and tell them she is the “Princess of the Throne” or whatever. WtF, mom?
While I don’t know if Jaeda should have stayed over Megan, I was rooting for her this time because it would have been horrible for them to chop her hair and then send her home!
You can tell the producers love the drama Monique is causing…..otherwise there would have been SOME mention of her 3 1/2 hour phone call during the judging.
I agree that Monique’s mom is a psycho too with all those comments that were vaguely “Christian-oriented”. Don’t bring God into this. He’s not on your side! She does have issues, and I just hope she doesn’t take Melrose down with her. I love Melrose’s style and what she wears in her downtime. She’s so cool!
Ok, the twins need to go. I don’t even bother trying to figure out which is which. They both bug me. Anchal is my hero for standing up to Moniqe. How sad was it when she finally got off the phone and no one was around. Haha, you stupid loser!
I saw Danielle on the “my life as a covergirl” short this week where she meets Atoosa, and there was a close-up of her. I am a straight chick but I stopped breathing for a second then I rewound and paused, then watched it again and rewound and paused. I have never seen anyone this beautiful in my entire life! Literally took my breath away – the closest I’ve ever felt to that was when I was stalking that guy back in January. Man! I wonder if she has a brother who can help me make daughters that beautiful.
I actually agreed with this elimination, Megan was never going to go far.
The twins photograph surprisingly well, given that they are fugly in person. They should have a future in runway if they can walk: tall, scrawny, and without a strong look. Their faces are blank enough to transform to whatever the stylist wants.
Some models do well because they have a strong individual look, other get work because they mutate to whatever they need to be. One of top model’s problems is that they seem to want girls that can do both.
It was a stupid shoot to have post-makeover. It should have been earlier, like the bald shoot from last cycle.
Brilliantmistake is right, the twins are ideal for top fashion. They’re going to be in this competition for awhile.
What I really want to know is where can I study to become a “weaveologist” like Weaven Steaven? His mom must be so proud.
They won’t send Monique home anytime soon. What- and get rid of all that TV worthy/ratings booster drama? Never! And as for Jaeda, Oscar Wilde said it best: “There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it”. Don’t fling down the gauntlet if you’re not up for the challenge. Besides, she looks 10 times better. The shorter hair lets you focus on her face.
I really don’t get what everyone sees in the twins, they have to be the two ugliest girls I’ve ever seen. During the photoshoot after the makeover when they showed the one twin in her swimsuit, BARF!!
Whoever suggested either of these fugs might have a career in fashion needs to remove the haze vision and clean the bad residue out of their crackpipes.
Hopefully next eppy shows one of the girls growing a pair of cahones and actually strangling monique with that damn phone cord.
I think Jaeda looks more like Hilary Swank than Halle Barry (which isn’t a bad thing).
And am I wrong or was Monique, most of those hours on the phone, just holding the phone and not actually talking to anyone (after talking to her mom for a bit)? it looked like she was just reading a magazine.
Just getting back in town, and I confess, my first Tivo was this . . . how have I missed this show in the past!
The twins were mixed here, Michelle was the bird, and I think she’ll outlast Amanda, she seems rather fearless in her approach at the shoots, and I think Amanda’s playing catch up. I don’t think they’re pretty, but I like them.
Jaeda is a hot, hot mamma! Her makeover shot was hot hot hot, and yes, James Woods, more hillary swank. I hope she can pull out some modeling though, too, too dull . . .
silly me, I made my early list after the first eppy, and I called Megan because of the piggy comment. I like her and all, and saw how you all liked her, but I can’t stop looking at her nose . . . oh well.
I like that all the girls are a team against the Mbitch, I hope they do ignore her and she comes completely undone . . . she’s here for ratings though, she wont win!

And frankly, Jay’s right, all the girls will be doing this over and over in the modeling world, get a grip!
