Tagged: america's next top model, ANTM, hong kong, sexypanda
Laura heads to the fourth designer’s HQ, Nude is Rude. Her guide is like, “That’s not true.” HA! The designer here really needs a brush and a nap. She looks TIRED.
Anyway, she’s looking to grow her brand (only a year old) throughout Asia, so she needs strong modeling. Laura smiles hopefully and nervously. Laura does her first walk in some kind of pant-suit, and Nude is Rude doesn’t love her walk. She says Laura looks good in the clothes, but her walk is off. So much for the redemption arc.
Annaliese meets with Kelly’s twin, Gregory. He’s so nice, though, I feel bad for making fun of his looks. But that’s what this is all about!
He puts Annaliese in a banana bikini. A bananakini? Like, black and gold sequined bra with a black bikini bottom covered in sequined 3D bananas. Wow. When Annaliese walks in the bananakini, she really struts and lets the bananas wiggle. Gregory, of course, loves it. He thinks she’s sexy and has lots of character.
Laura tags Annaliese as she heads into meet with Gregory. He puts her in a red mirrored disco dress with a big headdress. She poses weirdly in the way only Laura can (which designers love), and then she walks. It’s still no good.
Sophie meets with Henry Lau, who puts her in the same exact dress Annaliese wore. And she does much better than Annaliese did. Henry thinks she’s confident and sexy. Basically, he likes her face. And I feel stupid writing that, because it’s a show about modeling.
I like Annaliese’s vibe with her Hong Kong model companion. They seem genuinely friendly with each other, and she asks him to help coach her into being more calm for her Nude is Rude go-see. Cute.
Laura, meanwhile, heads to Henry Lau (who, by the way, designs for a line called “Spy”). He really likes her hair and her look, but he doesn’t mention anything about her walk. Ah, cliffhanger!
Sophie goes to Nude is Rude, and the designer (Marisa) liked her pretty much. No problems here. Marisa also loved Annaliese’s walk and her attitude and her hair. So that’s cool. It might come down to only Brits in this finale!
Three hours later, in the dark, the girls and their male escorts (heehee) meet Gregory’s twin sister on a boat. This time, it’s the iconic boat of Hong Long, this one called Aqua Luna.
Kelly has feedback for everyone, including who booked and who didn’t. Laura? She was pretty and nice, but she walked shitty. Tell her something she doesn’t know. Sophie and Annaliese? Half the designers loved one, half the designers loved the other one. Annaliese was bubbly and exotic, and Sophie was great, too.
Laura booked two shows, actually. Wow! She gets $2000 Hong Long dollars. Annaliese? She booked three shows (her goal), so she gets $3-large. Sophie? She booked all four. Wow. Four stacks. Plus, Sophie’s going to be the face of Nude is Rude for the next year. Like, internet shots, catalog, etc. I laugh a little when I check out the Nude is Rude website and see all the clothes photographed on mannequins.
(Whoops, sorry, lost my focus, listening to bossa nova versions of famous songs on YouTube. Wedding dinner research, of course. Also, LOLing at “Radio Disney” version of heavy metal songs. Wiping tears from my eyes.)
Kelly seems resigned to being nice to these girls. Like, “Fine, you made it this far, ugh.” Anyway, first the girls just won a boat full of clothes (or was it just Sophie?), AND they’re expected to go spend those Hong Long dollars on the town tonight, as “power girls” living large. Party! The party consists of…the three girls and their three escorts? That’s it? On that boat?
Sophie shakes up champagne and sprays it directly at people. That’s fine when someone wins the World Series, but otherwise, that’s annoying. Whatever, they party it up and dance. Laura informs us that this is the lifestyle she wants to live, and she’s not far from it. That’s true. But you’re going to use up your beauty FAST if you live this way every day. Oh, by the way, they ARE at a club. Alone.

Congratulations!
I was sad to see Annaliese go, but I wasn’t surprised. I don’t really like anyone left. I do like Sophie better than Laura, so I guess Sophie for FTW.
As stupid as it seems to have a British person win AMERICA’S Next Top Model, I can’t stand Laura so I hope Sophie wins. Laura’s so whiny…she’s too hardcore to be “pretty” all of a sudden?
And I have to agree with SexyPanda about Kelly. Girl looks ROUGH. She reminds of the semi-goth girl with questionable hygiene that sits in the back corner of the classroom in high school. How on earth do these people become such high rollers in the fashion industry? I didn’t get Andre Leon Talley either with his stupid choir robe he used to wear. How is that fashion?? He wore the same damn thing every day!
First of all, SexyP, WHOA MOMMA! Quite the rock, my dear. Yay you.

I absolutely fell inlove with Annaliese during this episode. She was really shining, and I’m sad she got the boot.
I think Annaliese got a bum deal. Her gorgeous mahogany skin looked oddly contrasting with that pale pink sleeveless dress. They should have had her in a gown with long, tight sleeves and a deeper color. the pale pink looked pretty on the uber pale girls with the white-blonde hair, but dammit it’s just not right (IMHO) that Annaliese got saddled with the same color even though it was not complimentary. Grrr.
Sophie was just a touch cocky for my taste this episode, but she’s okay. Laura is just out there but takes great photos. Sigh. I guess I’ll be okay with whomever wins.
I’m assuming that next week will be the requisite recap/unseen footage episode and the finale will be on the 30th. Usually the last episode consists of the top 3 girls, with one getting kicked off in the middle, followed by the fashion show and crowning of the “winner.”
Sophie better win. I can’t stand Laura. I’m ever so sick of her playing the “I had to grow up fast because my parents were alcoholics” card. I don’t think she’s pretty, I don’t think she’s commercial, I think her personality is completely boring and grating, she’s not relatable and comes across as fake (remember that anti-bullying PSA? God, she sucks).
Annaliese did indeed get the raw deal. Having one Brit and one Yankee in the top 2 was probably the plan from the very beginning. And she booked three of her go-sees while lame Laura only booked two, but whatever. Sophie better win, because she deserves it.
Congrats! I’m meh about both finalists. Sophie was a mean girl in BNTM but has hidden bitcherella quite well this season. Shame Annelise had to go.

I hope we’ll see more of Annaliese. We probably will, actually, since the losers always seem to do better than the winners. When was the last time you saw McKey in anything? And yet Analeigh has had a couple high-profile roles in “The Green Hornet” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” I always thought that Analeigh should have won, but she seems to have done better by not winning . . . which is usually the case. So even though I want Sophie to win over the should-have-been-sent-home-7-episodes-ago Laura, maybe Laura should win so that Sophie will have more opportunities.
Nah, that would just piss me off.

But I would be really bummed, too, if Laura were to win. Ugh.
Also, Teyona. I mean, Teyona? Really? I forget that she was an ANTM winner all the time. Allison’s gotten a lot more recognition and work than Teyona. So, yeah. Runners-up usually fare better than winners, especially since the winners have, for the most part, considerably underperformed compared to those who do not win (Whitney, anyone? Girl was in the bottom two FOUR g.d. times). And freaking Katarzyna has done TONS of crap, way more than Whitney. God, I take this way too seriously . . .
I apologize. I have a weird and fascinating relationship with this show that borders on obsessiveness and daily checking of Amazon.com to see if they’ve added more cycles to their on demand section. (So far I haven’t broken down and bought that all-star crap. I’m proud of myself.)

@snowshoecat, we can be low class together because I was thinking the same thing about the rock LOL.
It’s sad to see Annelise go, but she’ll be okay. Even if modeling doesn’t pan out the way she wants it to, she’ll have a great career as a television personality. Maybe she’ll even be able to host stuff in the U.S. now that she’s a recognizable face here. She should call up MTV and see if they need VJs or correspondents.
If there’s any justice in the world, Sophie will win. Her photos haven’t been as strong as Laura’s, but Sophie is much more versatile, she presents herself better, and she will be the first ANTM winner to actually do something in the modeling world because she has proven that she will be able to book modeling jobs.
It’s interesting to hear that she’s a bitch though. Seeing as how she was so ugly and gawky as a kid, I wouldn’t expect that from her.
You know – if you had to judge a company by it’s owner, how the hell would Kelly Cutrone get any business? She has not one iota of fashion sense. Between her ratty hair and the military tent clothes, she looks like a homeless person!
Doesn’t Laura realize she’s a shoe-in? Will they let a Brit win AMERICA’S Next Top Model?
And can somebody PLEASE tell me why the hell a model would want a recording contract? Do they award a modeling contract on American Idol?
