Golden Globe TV nominations

Awards Shows

GoldenGlobe.jpgThat mysterious handful who make up the Hollywood Foreign Press Association sure know how to throw a wingding, and they also know how how to read the public pulse a lot better than the Oscar or Emmy voters. With nominations for Leo, Johnny, Will, Borat and Mel on the movie side, they also know how to get ratings for their little awards show.

So how did they make out on the TV front?

Well, The Wire and Rock Star: Supernova didn’t make the cut, but Masi Oka from Heroes did– and somehow, so did that dreary stage actress who plays Matthew Perry’s “funny” lady love on Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip. Matt, who got up early to help announce the nominations this morning, also got a nomination, but not for Studio 60.

Television nominations after the jump.

How does Scrubs keep getting the shaft?

Desperate Housewives is not a comedy.

Apparently none of the Lost men can act. Wither Eko? Wither Benry?

And Evangeline Lily? Bitches, please. I think they just want to see her on the red carpet. Do you think she’ll bring Dominic?

I’m upset THE WIRE got shafted yet again.

Seriously, that show is better than all the nominees combined.

I totaly agree with nate The Wire is definitely one of the best shows ever on television, but i’m glad Justin Kirk from Weeds got the recognition he deserves and Baldwin on 30 Rock is hysterical

Pompeo for “Grey’s Anatomy”….really? Are you kidding me? She’s Horrible!

And Arquette for “Medium”? I think she is a terrible actress.

I USED to like awards shows….but it seems they are slowly getting more about who’s popular, rather than who’s..er..actually TALENTED.

I do agree about “The Wire” though. I just started getting into that show and I think it’s great!

I’m used to The Wire being ignored. The writers and producers would probably die from shock if they were nominated. It just goes to show how irrelevant and vacuous the GG’s are.

I totally agree about the Wire. The problem is visibility. HBO doesn’t advertise it enough. I never knew it existed until I started dating someone who watched it.

Anyone who is reading this and has never watched The Wire should order it on Netflix. You won’t be disappointed.

As a Lost viewer I think nominating Lilly is a joke. I have no idea how these nominations are made but clearly the system is flawed.

The Wire’s actually on Showtime, but yeah its not nearly promoted enough. I’m surprised Weeds was even visable enough to grab some of the noms that they deserve.
