Slime rules at Nick Kids’ Choice Awards

Nickelodeon’s 20th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards moved just like a grown-up awards show last night with dead spots, corny stage patter, emotional speeches and mass burping. But at least it had lots of slime, oozing out of the walls, shooting out of hoses and bursting up from under the stage– an effect they should consider for the next Emmy show. Host Justin Timberlake proved he shouldn’t be in such a rush to leave his kiddie audience, Ryan Seacrest continued to hone his girly-man act atop a 225-foot bungee platform, Nicole Kidman removed her jacket and allowed her her breasts to be gingerly slimed, and Gwen Stefani did the exact same production number she performed Wednesday on American Idol– except this time she didn’t appear to be lip-synching.

All in all, lots of fun and noise and product promotion by big stars who know who’s getting mom and dad to shell out the bucks.
