BB Live Feed Update: Jeff Against Dumbledore’s Gayness

It’s rainin men, girl!

Only in the Big Brother house could both gayness and Harry Potter be so confusing. The clip below is of Jeff, America’s Sweetheart(‘s boyfriend) arguing with Kalia about how inappropriate it would be for Dumbledore to be a homo. I know a lot of parents would agree with him, and a lot of gay people will be offended. I have nieces, they understand that Uncle Flipit is a total mo, and they couldn’t give a rat’s ass as long as I keep the Dora merchandise flowing. But maybe they’ll grow up to be serial killers or something because of it, who knows?

JK Rowling said in an interview that she always thought of ole Dumby as gay, but she never actually wrote that in the book. Not that Jeff would have, you know, READ either way. Still, the discussion turned upon that idea and Jeff got super pissed. He fights like an absolute moron, so even though this clip might get your hackles up, you should still watch it cuz it’s hilarious to try and watch him come up with words he doesn’t know.

Bigotry and/or plain ignorance isn’t a huge shocker in the BB house, and especially not with Jeff. He called Russell a fag in his own season. I can’t really hate Jeff though, cuz he works out a lot and he’s kinda hot. Also, it’s a pretty well known fact that guys with this big of a problem with gay dudes usually crave peen. I hope to one day have you on our team, Jeffy!

I can’t find a way to embed this clip since it’s been taken down from YouTube, so head over to Rickey to watch it.

Also, don’t forget about tonight’s Live Podgasm and Live Tweet!

Jeff is homophobic now, he was then, and he is unabashed about it. But Jeff and Jordan are cute & adorable, so it’s OK. He’s an asshole, I hope Jordan decides to peg him one night!

I think given Jordan’s room temperature IQ, her attempting something called pegging could lead to the funniest ER story ever. Fingers crossed!

I just gained new love for Kaila’s princessy ways… and I love how Jeff doesn’t care that she has a fambly member who is gay, it’s still WROOOOOONG to him…

You know, here’s why I find it so offensive for Jeff to be such a dickface… NOBODY ever talks about how there are straight male teachers working around young women (and conversely, straight female teachers, such as Mary Kay LeTourneau, who actually DID fuck a male minor, repeatedly) and they automatically assume that not a single one of us are safe around underage boys. PLEASE, I can only say this about guys who repeatedly whine about gay men… “The squeaky wheel WANTS to get greased!”

    love, J-Mo :)

I’m just curious… maybe Dumbledick (Jeff) meant that JKR didn’t make the character gay because that would never fly with the reading public? So when he was saying “you just don’t want to say that on TV,” he was just saying it’s not politically correct to suggest this, and not that he personally thinks that a gay person can’t teach in a classroom.

I mean, sure, he comes across as pretty stupid, and he certainly says stupid things (and keeps stupid company), but I’ve never gotten a hateful vibe from him.

If Dumbledore were gay, he wouldn’t live in the closet. Harry does, and space is limited.

And if Dumbledore really were gay, I wouldn’t say Jeff was his biggest basher. That title would go to Snape. “I hate you..because I love you.”

Hey J-Mo.. I was wondering if you lived through the Big Haboob of 2011. Hadn’t seen you around.
And Itchy, I think you have it right. I understood Jeff to be saying that that isn’t something you would find in a childs fantasy book …. that people wouldn’t accept it inmass. In the Live Feed I mentioned I thought Jeff was treating it like a parent sending their child to alter boys camp with Catholic Priests. Which is not what I would recommend. Does that mean all Priests are pedophiles? No, but around these dumping grounds it is a pretty good bet.
Something is missing in his brain-knowledge being the largest. HE says he never read the books and falls asleep EVERY time the movie comes on. So he has no clue what is going on.
And Kalia doesn’t get a free pass in my book. She has the foot in mouth syndrome that shouldn’t be over shadowed by Jeff’s ignorance. Both of them wouldn’t get it after hours of diversity, sexual harassment, and sensitivity training.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Read about this on the live feed forum, but didn’t realize how bad it was. I’m offended…and that’s not just my response b/c I am responding on a public site.

In anticipation of this season of BB, I have been watching past seasons, and I just can’t believe that if Jeff was a homophobe and that he could have hidden that fact his whole season – especially with Kevin in his season. Kevin seemed to have nothing but respect and affection for Jeff, and I don’t think he would have been able to hide it if he thought that Jeff was at all against his lifestyle. I understand that he threw a gay slur at Russell, but I think that was just because he knew it would incite Russell, not because he was disparaging gay people.I really have no feeling for or against Jeff and Jordan in this BB season, but I think that we are jumping to conclusions in regards to Jeff.

I think certain situations maybe triggers for people. I heard this discussion while it was happening. It went from a statement to a question to Jeff freaking out in about 4 seconds. After watching Jeff on his season and his internet travel show and The Amazing Race I do not feel he is a homophobe. I think this situation, remember he doesn’t know what Dumbledore is except a person in power of kids away from family, struck something he isn’t comfortable with. He reacted so swift and strongly which isn’t a normal reaction for him and I beleive he has something in his past that put him on edge. Ask any rape victim how someone joking about rape or bringing up a situation they don’t feel comfortable with how fast they go off. It just triggers something. I am not saying Jeff was abused by a gay man in power over him. I am saying he may have a situation that is not comfortable with and his gut reaction was .. No way in hell…… And I think he may have been simply saying that in a childs book an author would not bring up such a controversial character for people to have more reason to freak out about. He did keep repeating no one would put that in a childs book…. And yes, he looks like an ass But Kalia wanted to fight the fight of ‘what is wrong with having a gay headmaster’ and Jeff was aruging the point of ” No way would anyone write that in a childs book” They never got on the same page with what the arguement was about before he shut it down.

@ Giffordsaz and @ Singleinmymind, I’m not going to give Jeff a pass simply because he’s a fan favorite who may/may not have been abused. Taken in context, he argued that a gay person or character should not work around children and also argued that Kalia felt that it was OK only because she was on the live feeds/television and being recorded. There’s no way in hell that he isn’t homophobic. If Jeff wasn’t a fan favorite, and wasn’t being edited for the show to be something that he clearly isn’t when you watch the live feeds, we wouldn’t have an issue.

Giffordsaz – I wholeheartedly agree with you assertion that Jeff and Kalia were actually fighting two different arguments, and it was misinterpreted. Jeff did keep mentioning in the argument that Kalia was “trying to tell me the right answer for TV” insinuating that Kalia was less than honest once she discovered that this might become fodder for the live feeds. I also think that Jeff has the same problem that my husband does – not being able to articulate what their argument is once they start getting angry. I’m able to argue rings around my husband, because he can’t put words together and the words he does get out I twist so that they match my argument and not his. I know it’s not nice, but I win all of our arguments :) Derek, if you watch his season again, you’ll see there’s no way he’s a homophobe – because he would not have been able to deal with Kevin the way he did. If he was, he would have negative feelings towards all gay people – not just headmasters of wizard schools!

I was just thinking the same thing singleinmymind. He’s not the most articulate guy and it’s *possible* he was trying to say that sexuality in general shouldn’t be in a kid’s book. On the other hand, he is a macho guy from the midwest. If he was somewhat homophobic would that really be a surprise??

Thanks Zerocool – I wouldn’t think so normally, but I just was watching his season when this exploded, so it was on my mind the whole time I was watching. I was looking for signs everywhere – and just didn’t see them. Everybody knows I love me some gays – and have been known to homophobe bash on occasion – but this time, I think it’s a big deal for nothing

Well, I’ve never been a Jeff fan and I don’t understand this spell he casts over the fans of BB. I think it’s sad that fan favorites such as he can make “an unfortunate choice of words,” but Braden (first voted out in Season 11) was branded a racist for referring to Lydia/Kevin as “beaners” because he was angry with them and that was actually aired on the edited show! If Jeff’s rant is aired on the edited show, maybe I’ll feel differently, but if Grodner covers up Jeff calling Russell a “fag” and this also, I’ll never agree or concede that Jeff isn’t a tad homophobic.

Gifford, you so eloquently said what I was trying to say on the forum, glad it’s not just the crack, and someone’s out there seeing things the weird way I do. NIce evidence with the sudden outburst-I think it does strengthen the observation.

I don’t know if Jeff is a homo-phobe or not, and if he want’s to protect children, it’s not a bad thing. He should just back up and look at his reactions and figure out how to express himself like Gifford does. There’s still time, he’s young. And whether they air it or not, I’m sure there’s places like this where people have been weighing in. Maybe he’ll see some of it.

@ Juddfan, Oh my god, now Jeff is “young?” Are you fucking kidding me, the dude is 37 years old! (I just googled it!) Frankly, if he can’t express himself without offending a significant portion of the fanbase by the time he’s 37, and his fans are still making excuses for him, I really don’t know what to say. People, in general, annoy me with how they try to bend themselves into a pretzel justifying asshole behavior in certain people, however, if Jeff wasn’t a favorite, what was said would be viewed as offensive.

Juddfan, (re: Snape), great minds, my friend… :)

@Derek: I like both you and Juddfan (you are guys are two of my favs at the Gasm.) I also know you both to be gay men. So, I guess it goes to show that some things are not offensive to all members of certain minority groups. Just like someone can scream “racist!”, while another just shrugs. It’s all a matter of perspective.

Frankly, I didn’t think a wizard’s sexual preference would be grounds for such speculation. I’ve always known them to be necrophiliacs. Kidding!

I am halfway through the third Harry Potter book and have read them in Portuguese, thereby possibly losing some things in translation. Is it possible that none of the adults’ (besides the married parents) relationships or sexuality come into play? I mean, does Hagrid have a love interest? Or any of the teachers? If not, then maybe it’s because it’s a children’s book and adults falling in love (lust) are not what kids want to read. Now, puppy love between the students would probably occur. But I’m not sure Rowling ever meant to depict the adult characters as sexual beings…only as allies and enemies for Harry.

Actually Derek, I’m not watching the vid of it to avoid my heart filling with hate. I’m not a fan of his, I honestly just try not to get too upset . . . I spent many years red in the face with frustration, so now I just try to be, and agree to disagree. You’re probably more right about it. and yea, I’m 48, so 37 is still young to me.

I didn’t watch the other season, so again, I’m sure you’re correct about the Russell thing too. I did follow the recaps, but don’t recall that too much.

You def have every right to your opinion, and I’m glad you’re here taking up the good fight, for real. Myself, I can easily be triggered into righteous indignation-Lawd forbid I was on some reality show and dealing with some ignorant prejudice–makes me crazy!!!!! Crazy, crazy, crazy . . . so again . . . I’m just trying not to get all upset.

And I was more concerned about “perverted” and confusing pedophilia with homosexuality . . . I wanted to weigh in on the difference. Homophobe or not, that’s just plain not true, and stupid, and I only hope, somehow, he can learn to understand the difference-and stop spreading ignorant assumptions that he jumps to in reaction to something that happened in his life, as Gifford was referring to.

I’m more apt to pretzel bend in my personal life, as I’m constantly attracted to assholes .. . . sigh . . . Jeff can go to hell as far as I care! LOL!!!

But wait a minute . . . I’m gay . . . HAHAHAHAHA!!!! kidding! You know I’m always up for spirited debate, and the above is my long way to say, shrug ; )

I like you too Derek!!! We all go back long time up here in the gasm!

@ Juddfan, I certainly agree with you and Gifford when you say that Jeff needs to understand the difference with being gay and being a pedophile, because clearly the two do not equate in any way. I feel, that as a 37 year old man, he should already be able to discern the difference, but Jeff isn’t bright, so I doubt it.

I guess I’m more frustrated this will be ignored on the edited show because Grodner will want to protect Jeff’s image simply because he’s a fan favorite, but other HGs of the past can be branded racists, misogynists, etc. when they made similar off-the-cuff remarks during their stays in the BB House.

@ Sarcasatire, I just hate Jeff, so his being back in the house sent me into a blind rage and these comments just pushed me over the edge. I can breathe now!

one more thing, I grew up on the east coast, where it was perfectly fine for people to scream the F word at you from their car (perfectly fine for them, I mean)

Dandy that I was, I didn’t feel the need to dispute that fact, so my basic reaction was, “So” or “Ya think?” Guess that defensive position has made me less reactive to the F word, but I think it’s offensive just the same. My whole childhood is littered with every gay thing anyone could call me, so by the time I was 19, I didn’t care anymore . . . Bring it on, Bitches! I was out and proud and didn’t waste my time on haters!

Naturally, as a child I would absolutely die every time, and pray to anything and anyone to not be beat up. I probably should think of them and call the Phobes on their shit!

    See, I’m 48, and I still learned a lesson–HAHAHAHAHA!!!

LOL @ Zerocool, I googled it when @Juddfan called him young because I thought Jeff had to be older than 30 and not just a premature grayer! I thought he was 32 or maybe 35, but according to his bio, he was born in 1974.
