London’s tattoo is called incredible by Sabina but Kim says it was a little flat with the fur around the head and could have used more shading. Alexis’ tattoo nailed the eyes but Kim couldn’t distinguish that the paws were paws and she thought it was pretty much a fancy ass scarf. Nicky’s piece is a fucking failure and Joe says that all the black made it a mess. Sabina couldn’t understand what Charlie’s piece was about at first and the background confused Joe. Jon’s piece was overall great but Joe didn’t like the cheap frame and said it needed more depth.


Who should leave…only the judges know!
The artists are all waiting and speculating who will be on the bottom. Alexis wants Charlie gone (I think she wants to be the dominant chick) and Nicky to stay. The judges discuss the pieces further and it seems that Nicky and Charlie got the worst critiques while Alexis and Jon’s pieces were well received. In fact, Alexis and Jon receive the top spots with Jon taking the win. That leaves Nicky, Charlie and London on the bottom but London is dismissed again because his client wouldn’t allow any other colors and constrained his creativity. You think the judges are rooting for London because he always seems to scrape by and last week he was let out of the bottom even though he did that ridiculous background. Charlie’s piece had too many details but was still missing something but she is still in. Nicky is noted as having made many improvements over all his tattoos but not enough to stay in the competition.


He was likeable but his tats suck.
Charlie swings him around and Alexis starts to tear up. Nicky thanks the judges for all their criticism and that he is honored to be on the show and hopes to keep growing. Before he leaves, he turns to give Alexis a hug and says that they will see each other soon. He tells us that he came into the show as a smug asshole but that the experience has humbled him and taught him to open up and be himself. He is ready to apply everything he has learned to his real life and wants to continue to improve his work. We are now left with Charlie, Alexis, London and Jon as the final four contestants and hopefully only 2 more episodes of this bullshit left.


Our final four, thank god it’s almost over!
Gasmii I do think it’s pretty cool that there will at least be 1 female in the final 3 because there are some badass girl tattoo artist out there. Are they Charlie and Alexis…I don’t believe so but at least girls get some representation. I am still not rooting for anyone because I think they are all pretty amateur and not up to par with some of the shit I have been seeing lately. I think the show is pulling for London or Alexis to win. Last week’s recap is here if you missed it, which was easy to do because it was uber late!

Well I couldn’t find any exciting pieces so here’s a piece from our newly kicked off contestant, Nicky. This is a nice piece but all his pieces look unfinished and I think it’s a sign of how popular you are by your bookings and he is booked about a week in advance and can take walk-ins. Maybe in a few years he’ll be less green. I just can’t help but wonder how much better this tat could have been with a little more detail put into it.

    That’s sad about Nicky only being booked a week in advance and having space for walk-ins. Meanwhile, some tattooists are booked two+ years in advance. I wonder how far in advance Jessica is booked. And that last piece is nice up until I get to the feet. Can someone please explain to me the bird’s feet look like it has arthritis?

    And I can’t help but think that Jon has gotten lucky with them doing portraits two weeks in a row. His portraits are really good, but I feel like he’s not such a great tattooer in general since up until these last two weeks, he hasn’t really been a forerunner in the ink challenges. He’s also never really done that well in flash challenges. And next week will be a tribute to MJ, so maybe he’ll get to do yet another portrait and slip himself into the top 3.

    Can you imagine if Roman had gotten stuck with the pink lady? LOLOLOLOL.

    Thanks for putting the pics of the tattoos and flash challenges on here, SG! Oxygen shows them for about .3 seconds…..probably so viewers can’t really see how shitty they are :) Thanks for the recap!!
    Actually, I liked this challenge alot. Makes me wanna get a tattoo of my awesome 9 year old cat, Bella (named BEFORE the Twilight craze, lol)
    Once again, Jon, Alexis and London kicked ass. I think they are awesome tatts, especially London because he had to deal with that crazy lady. But Im glad she liked the tattoo once it was done, and didn’t freak out about it.
    Nicky’s was just a pile of shit…..no really, that snake literally looks like a shit pile. And yes, that bird’s legs look like twigs, and is it sewing up the skin with a needle and thread? Ohhhh kay. Note to self: don’t get a tattoo from Nicky.

    My favorite part was when Alexis said “what is she smoking? ’cause I want some” about Charlie. Charlie’s such a whack-a-doo.

    Don’t worry, there’s only one episode left (next week’s finale) to muddle through.

    This is Liz the skrillex lesbian. I would like to clarify that I had no idea what skrillex was until after I ditched this haircut and I am married to a man (James from the portrait episode is my awesome husband). With that being said this post was the greatest thing I’ve ever read. I laughed. Really hard.
    Ps. I had a litter of baby rabbits at the time this was filmed, hence the 14 pets. It’s down to 6 pets now. Don’t call animal hoarders. Haha.

    Okay, I never ever comment to these things because everyone has their own opinion, and we all know that everyone talks shit, especially about people on reality tv. Hey, I do it all the time. But the one thing that compelled me to respond to this is just the incredible amount of false information. Yeah, it’s really not your fault, it’s the show’s fault for portraying things the way they did. And I’m not blaming \editing\ like everyone else does. I literally mean, there were some straight up lies on this show and I’ve never talked about it before, but I just can’t read all this and not say something..Okay..

    First I want to preface what I’m about to say with this; yes I know this is a little late, but I am only now just finding this. It was sent to me by someone. Also, I would like to say how much I enjoyed reading all your recaps on Best Ink, even though you talked a lot of shit on me and yes, it hurt my feelings. But you are very clever and funny, and having a 140 IQ like I do, I can appreciate it, so it was entertaining nonetheless. (That was me being funny..sorta…even though I really do have a 140 iq heh)

    Okay, so let me begin…I really regret the fact that I was portrayed as a 28 year old who had been tattooing for 5 years. the truth is, I am now only 22 years old and was only 20 when this show was filmed and had only been tattooing for 3 years. The age thing is a super long story that I probably shouldn’t even be bring up but everyone in my real life knows so whatever I guess. But yeah, circumstances led to me having to pretty much play along or leave. So all the people my age that had been tattooing around the same time went home right away and I made it 6 out of 8 rounds with people tattooing 3x as long as me. The photo you put at the end of the blog, the bird on the spool..that LITERALLY was my 5th tattoo that I had EVER done. It’s on a friend. So yeah, talk about how bad it is. I don’t care. But then do 4 tattoos and let me see what your 5th looks like.

    I did not want to do this show because yes, I AM green. I hadn’t been doing it very long, but the sad truth is that I am still better than a lot of artists that have been doing it far longer. I agree that for television though, I couldn’t hang. Because people are so harsh with their critiques. I hated on shit too watching reality TV but after knowing what it’s like I try to evaluate situations a little bit more now. Let’s really analyze the work I did on the show. You would seriously say it’s \shit\ and \sucks\? I think that’s a little extreme. I will admit that it wasn’t my best work, but let’s think about the amount of pressure that was on us all the time. Half ..scratch that, 90% of my interviews I was drunk. I was so nervous and I’m really shy in person. But I never drank the day of a tattoo, so don’t think that’s why they \sucked\. The first challenge it was between Jon London and myself to win. Check out the extras on Oxygen.com if you don’t believe me. Because I was a runner up in the Flash Challenge, they only brought up Jon and London because I wasn’t the choice for actual winner anyhow. Plus what you didn’t see is they also chose losers for the Flash Challenges and Jon had lost the butterfly challenge so they brought him on stage for the Ink Challenge as sort of a redemption. But in editing obviously, they cut out a lot.

    Anyhow, I felt shafted right off the bat, after the first episode, and then after the stupid twist in the pin up challenge I was over the show. So I did kind of give up in a way. In retrospect I wish I would’ve tried harder but at the end of the day the tattoos I did were not horrible. Look up any random shop that is not on TV and there’s a 95% chance you will find garbage. Yes, I agree I could have done better some of the times, but I never put out shit. The skull/rose morph was my favourite tattoo that I did on the show. The coloured swallow was not my best because that fat bitch kept pulling her leg away on me. And the other swallow was NOT unfinished, She specifically requested just an outline. As did London’s 2nd client in the BFF challenge. That’s why we both just had outlined tattoos. But if you look at my linework from that swallow, it is perfect. In the portrait challenge, you’re seriously kidding yourself if you don’t think Kyle’s backwards, bucktooth portrait was worse than mine. I was the last one done my portrait because everyone else’s was 3×5\ I had the biggest one to do because my client was a fucking fatass. Mine was almost an 8×10\. So I had to scramble at the last minute to finish. Not to mention that it was MY FIRST PORTRAIT EVER. But I don’t bitch like Charlie so I never said anything. But consider this…I’ve barely been tattooing over 2 years and she had been tattooing almost 10. Think about that. Not to mention that she lied about it being her first anyway. Yeah she hadn’t done much but she had done portraits. In 10 years how do you avoid doing a portrait?

    Anyway, none of that really matters to any of you I’m sure. I just feel like I should at least defend myself or tell my side or the whole truth or whatever. Oh and to anyone asking yourself \well then why did you do the show if you claim you didn’t want to?\ Well, let me tell you…My boyfriend is an actor/model (yes, my BOYFRIEND, so NO I was NOT fucking Alexis…Jon and London…now that’s another story..HAHA omg I’m totally kidding hehe…not about being gay, just about sucking any dicks in LA. I <3 my BF)anyway my boy is an actor and he's mostly known as a child actor and hasn't done a lot recently. The last "big" things he did were the first 2 Step Up movies. So He tried out for the Real World but didn't make it because they already had gay child actor or something. So he hears about all the Bunim and Murray castings because Best Ink is done by the same people as the Real World. So he begged me to do it. Trust me, we fought about it because I did not want to do it. But I think he wanted at least one of us to do something that we get semi-known for. I did it for him and I don't regret it because I had so much fun and made so many great friends. And none of the shit talking online has ever bothered me, but damn, y'all are harsh at times. Commenters and all.

    So trust me, I was plenty afraid the world would hate me for being some 16 year old looking 30 year old fag who looks like a dyke, but I did it for my boyfriend. And honestly I know better than to read these things, but whatever. If anyone even read this whole thing, and you still fucking hate me, well then…fuck you, I guess?? I don't know. Why was I doing this again? Who the fuck knows. Oh yeah, get your facts straight! S'all good. Whatev'. Oh and one more thing, nothing on this show was scripted really, but everything was "prompted". That's why we all came off boring. In the mini clips of us inbetween commercials, we filmed each other with flip cams, so you get a little bit more of an insight on how we really are. We were a fun group if I do say so myself. Okay well, I don't think I can be sued for saying any of this stuff anymore because I think our contract is expired?? Whatever, a fag's gotta stand up for himself. If any of you don't agree, then you're all homophobes! So uncool, haha.

    P.S. I was NOT named Nicky, it’s a nick name. No one for that matter, is ever named Nicky. It’s short for Nicolas. The End.

    P.P.S. Is this the only site that you write for? Because I really do enjoy reading it.

    P.P.P.S. oh shit, I forgot one point I wanted to make….that fucking shit about me only being booked one week in advance is bullshit. I had just started at that shop after moving back from new york, so that was written literally before i started working there, based on the appointments i had set up at that shop myself using the shop’s calendar app. I was more booked than anyone in that shop after working there awhile and had more clientele then anyone else in the shop. I have since then moved on because the owner could not handle me traveling state to state to do conventions and guest spots. IE. he was jealous because the work he was putting out when he had been tattooing as long as i have was garbage. like legitimately, but 12 years later it isn’t much better anyway.

    I actually really liked you and thought you had a good personality. This site does not do average recaps, we snark on things so take it with a grain of salt. I appreciate you taking the time to explain your side and wish you had done it much sooner so that more people could see what happened. I only write for tvgasm and I primarily do the reality tattoo shows. That bird tattoo was picked because I really liked it and at the time you didn’t have much up on the internet. I look forward to seeing more of your work. PS are you still down with Alexis?
