We’re less than 50 hours away from the premiere of Big Brother 8, and should mention that USA Today gave TVgasm a nice plug today by crediting us with coining a word that’s become part of the English lexicon.
No, not “celebutard.”
“Chenbot”!
Well, they call it “Chen-bot,” but it’s close enough to the word invented by B-Side and J-Unit in the Summer of ’02, and the McPaper acknowledges their lasting contribution to pop culture.
Read what USA Today had to say… after the jump…Poor Julie, who was elevated from lowly CBS newsreader to awkward prime time hostess eight summers ago, only to be selected from the staff list for seduction and marriage by married-to-someone-else-at-the-time boss Les Moonves (at least that Telemundo news anchorette in today’s LA mayor scandal wasn’t on his payroll) is interviewed in today’s USA Today, and claims her animatronic TelePrompter reading and awesome mannekinlike presence has been deliberate:
Ever since the criticism of the first year, Chen says she has played her role as straight as possible, displaying no emotion, for example, toward eliminated contestants she might personally dislike. It earned her the nickname “Chen-bot” from the website tvgasm.com.
Chen was initially put off by her Internet moniker. “Then I thought, ‘I am the Chen-bot, and I have to embrace my inner Chen-bot.’ ” She now sends gifts to the Brother crew from “the Chen-bot.”
Big Brother kicks off at 8 pm ET/PT Thursday, and the show will air Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays on CBS through summer. With naughty bits on Showtime’s three-hour “Live Nightly Action” from inside the house from midnight to 3 a.m.
