These women are seriously parodies of themselves. I’m embarrassed.

    Push the APPLAUSE button.
I guess these women don’t get out much. Who would have thought that tickets to a show should cause them to wet their depends. Now if she said airfare to N.Y. and a night or two at a decent hotel, now we’re talkin’.

I guess the power of Oprah compelled them to lose their freakin’ minds!

She’s giving away shows, because no one in the NYC area wants to see this awful drivel of a show. The movie was enough. Go away Oprah.

Are you eyes deceiving me, or was that Rainn Pryor handing out tickets?

Why is Oprah famous? I liked her show better when she interviewed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. To be fair, that was the only episode I ever saw, and I think I was 10.

Please, she could have been giving them a trip to the city dump and they would react the same way. That is the power of Oprah, she cracks me up.

Or, excuse me, let me say it as Cicely would–

    Thank……. you……. for……. bringing….. the…… magic….. of….. the…… Legends….. Ball…. back…… to….. my…… life!!

I hate Oprah… well.. most of the time. Sometimes she’ll have an entertaining show.
Anyways… her audience would be happy if she gave im a piece of shit.
People don’t care what it is.. if it’s free, they’ll go crazy for it.

Just the title of this clip makes me laugh. And the screengrab, of course, in which she looks like some sort of purple-suited dictator.

Why are these people so excited about seeing a mid-1980′s movie?

Clearly, I am missing something, but what does “Push the button” mean?

I am probably totally missing it too, but talk shows have a humungous neon “APPLAUSE” sign that goes on when the audience is sppsd to applaud. Someone in the studio must have put something heavy on that sign’s button by mistake, heh heh.

Victoria, I embarrassingly went to look it up, and “Push the Button” is the name of a “Show-stopping number” in the Color Purple musical… I was hoping it was the Oprahbot failing

Push the button is one of the big numbers from the show. (which is actually really good- LaChanze is AMAZING) I saw it already- but would be totally pysched to get another pair of tickets.

However I live in Manhattan and its a quick subway ride to Broadway. These ladies have a bit more of a hike. I don’t quite get how that works. Free tickets to see a show halfway across the country in one of the most expensive cities?

There has to be something else, they must have edited out the part where they all got tickets to New York and Hotel stay…then they showed the “and tickets to….” Totally edited!

how did that one guy sneak into the oprah audience? i didn’t think that was allowed. (not surprisingly, he didn’t look all that stoked to get tix to “the nearly shut-out of the tony awards” musical craptacular of the season).

What the hell? I have a group of friends who are hard-core baseball fans from Boston, and they were half as excited when the Red Sox won the freaking World Series as these people were to win…theater tickets. Again, W. T. F.

There HAD to be some clever editing wherein Oprah actually gave them a car, or a house, or something, and they spliced in “tickets to the Color Purple!”

How much proof do we need to realize Oprah is insane.. I’m waiting for her to give the audience Kool-aide and they all convulse and die on camera.. Now THAT’s television.

    OH my
    Push the button

    I know what THAT means…..
In Alice Walkers The Color Purple, the main character who I think is called Ceily? Well she is talking to another woman, I think it was Sug Avery! her lesbian lover, about the fact that she has yet to… umm “find” her sexuality and believes she is unable to ever enjoy sex because her past sexual experiences with her abusive husband were never loving or satisfying for her.So Sug ( short for sugar) enlightens her about “the magic button” a woman has that she can “mash” to achieve a ummm a umm feeling. ok?

So that made it even harder for me to watch Oprah dancing and singing about Push The Button. Ahem.

Perhaps the audience enjoys a few cocktails while waiting for the show to start. Eveything seems more exciting with a buzz!

there must have been a male exotic dancer on stage off camera to get the ladies that excited about theater tickets.
