There were plenty of things to talk about when it came to last night’s Super Bowl, but what about its unassuming fluffer, the pre-show? Anyone who tuned in at least forty-five minutes early got to see the bizarre union of the NFL, Cirque Du Soleil, and Miami pop-art. That’s one Venn diagram that surely was ill-advised.

We still don’t know what to make of this curious performance. It was neither bad nor good. Just… whimsical. Entirely too whimsical for Super Bowl activities. The entire mess lasted about eight or ten minutes, but we’re only going to showcase the first two minutes. After all, they were the most whimsical moments of all. And when it comes to football, it’s a game until there’s whimsy.
