The people have spoken, the votes have been cast, and now America has made its final decision. At long last, we have the first winners for the America’s Next Top TVgasm Writer contest!

And the winners are…

Emmitt and Cheryl!!

Okay, maybe not them. But to find who won and what new shows we’re looking for recappers on, just click after the jump…I’d like to preface this by saying that all the finalists did great jobs, and while we could only take half of them, I’m sure we’ll find other ways to make sure the runners-up can still contribute to TVgasm. Why turn down good writing? Nevertheless, onto the winners!

Ugly Betty:

This was a close one. Kelly and Nicole both submitted hilarious entries, but in the end the winner was… Kelly! Congratulations!

Well done, Kelly!

Top Chef:

Again, two incredibly strong submissions, but we had to go with… Flipit!

Congratulations, Flipit!

Jericho:

In terms of reader response, this was the closest race, but we felt that ultimately, Gina was the winner!

A fine moments for Gina.

Thanks to all who participated. We’re still looking for more recappers for more shows. If you want to write for Lost, Battlestar Galactica, The Apprentice, Criminal Minds, ER, or Friday Night Lights, email your submissions to me at bside@tvgasm.com.

B-Side – what’s up with needing a recapper for Lost? What happened to EdHill? I’ve always thought he does a good job with that one.

B-side, you’re not going to be recapping the Apprentice anymore?? Say it ain’t so! MY friend and I watch the Apprentice together and then read your recaps together (which cracking up). It’s sort of tradition. You can’t break this.

B-Side, you will be severely missed as The Apprentice recapper. A trusty Blingo.com search (yes, I desire to win free junk) says The Apprentice 6 will premiere in January 2007. Is TVGasm going to wait until then to pick a recapper? Tell me how it works because I am intersted!

What’s most important is that I found an awesome picture of a blue-ribbon alpaca, and no one has even commented about it! Blue-ribbon alpaca, people!

I like-a the blue ribbon-a alpaca but tell me about The Apprentice! Since it doesn’t start until Jan. 07, what is the standard operating procedure for the Apprentice recap contest?

For the Apprentice Recaps, write something about the past five seasons — a brief history, if you will. How it started, how it’s evolved, and where it’s at now. And be funny too.

The reason why I’m offloading the show is not because I don’t absolutely love it, but it’s on the same night as Amazing Race, and honestly, they are the two hardest shows for me the recap. One would suffer, and I feared it would be The Apprentice. The Donald deserves more than that!

doesn’t the alpaca kind of look like it is holding its blue ribbon from a strange horn-growth on its nose?
