In a scene that seems pointless, but probably isn’t, JR is sending Bobby messages from his room. One of them is a video of a dog with a beach ball. JR says that he is trying to cheer Bobby up before the sentencing. The sentencing nobody seems in a hurry to get to.
Elena tells Drew that they will meet with Lou in the morning to go over his sentencing when Christopher walks in. She tells him what is going on and he updates her on the hearing with Pam. He is excited about the annulment because they can get married in the church after the babies are born. Poor, naive Christopher.
At the sentencing, Bobby is testifying about how he and Ann met – she was some kind of horse therapist. They fell in love; she is caring and compassionate, blah, blah, blah. If this is the ‘something special’ I am really sad for all of them. It also looks like Bobby may have pink eye (or just be really stoned). After Bobby is done, they adjourn until the next day. Is this going to be one person a day or did they just fast forward past everyone else. Where is the dance number?
Pam is in her condo and gets a call from Cliff. She tells him that she got part of Ewing Energies. After hanging up, John Ross arrives. Pam tells him that she isn’t signing over her shares because she doesn’t want to be at war with Christopher. I think that ship has sailed and John Ross is pissed. We know he’s pissed because he tells her ‘game on’. Game on, indeed.
Bobby takes a break from the courtroom drama to visit Emma. He reminds her that she has another family at South Fork and if she needs them, they are there for her. Granted, they will most likely stab you in the back rather than look at you, but they are there.
Drew is at work when Christopher stops by to give him shit about getting arrested. Drew tells him that he was just trying to get money to buy back his father’s land. He tells Christopher that someone purposely smashed his taillight and that the foreman was trying to sabotage the project. This strikes Christopher as odd and he goes to Ewing Energies to look at Elena’s contract. Because he is better at deciphering it than Lou, he quickly figures out about the morals clause. He tries to call Elena so she’ll stop Drew from signing a confession, but it’s too late. Elena is pissed because Drew screwed her over. I’m pissed because this storyline is already getting old.
In an act that nobody is shocked with – Vicente escapes from his chaperones and heads to South Fork to give the Ewings a proper good-bye.
Pam is signing the annulment agreement – the one that may not even be possible and that isn’t supposed to be done until after the babies are born. Her assistant tells her that she has the DVD of the 3d ultrasound. Pam tells her that she will deliver Christopher’s to him. Of course – she has to have some kind of reason to be there when all the crazy shit goes down.
If you like it, spread it!:

Lou has quite the lucrative legal career! A lawyer that covers murder, divorces, and business contracts, and probably other types of law. I am in the wrong line of work! As always, I love your recaps and snark! I am really enjoying this season of Dallas and while I will miss JR, I am curious to see who will step into his shoes. And of course, the sooner we see John Ross without his shirt would be better!
John Ross does need to take off his shirt so I can stop staring at his curled up nose. Maybe it’s just me, but profile shots are not his friend.
Mr. Dancer and I were yelling at Christopher after he his tossed his methane thingy at the thug. Christopher grabbed the gun, WTF was he waiting for? Just SHOOT HIM!!! Don’t wait to see if he’ll give up!!! What kind of Texan does that? Seriously, he should have to give up his man card.
I found the scene with everyone being held captive until Christopher came back so super odd…. everyone off just chatting… Folks you may Die…. Come on.
They did something similar in the original series. JR and Ray Krebs were found to have been fooling around with some married women, and their husbands drove to Southfork, with a huge wind storm brewing, to do some justice. They had Lucy, Pam, Sue Ellen, and Miss Ellie all trapped, and the JR and Ray came back but couldn’t do anything. Bobby and Jock saved the day. I was thinking of this when I was watching this episode.
1. Judith Light’s fake Southern/Texan accent is the absolute worst, and is fooling no one. I fast forward through her scenes, as the “accent” is an affront to my Southern-ness.
2. John Ross is the best, but needs to wear less shirt.
3. I find the Christopher/Elena story line very unnatural, but also very similar to Bobby and Pam #1 from the original series.
4. Thanks for a great recap!
Am I the only one who detests Christopher. I don’t just mean that I dislike him. I find him vile. He is so pompous and, if I got engaged to my cousin’s fiance (um no that wouldn’t happen), I would think that I would have the decency not to flaunt it constantly. I know that Jesse Metcalfe is a crappy actor (he sure was on Desperate Housewives – at least when his shirt was on and I noticed his acting) but is Christopher supposed to be so unlikable? At least Bobby was likable in the original series and Patrick Duffy knew how to play a hothead without making him look like a schmuck.
@Patty I remember the hostage episode from the original series. It was done much better – maybe because it took a whole episode. (Or maybe there was no Christopher back then) Wow things move at a fast pace on this show.
Hantz Down: I agree about Christopher. He is always either threatening someone, trying to be a badass, or he is trying to get someone to do the right thing and then acting all incredulous when they don’t do it. Like Rebecca and Emma. I don’t know what he’s trying to prove. And yeah, I think it’s a little sick to go and flaunt his relationship right in John Ross’s face. Who knows, that PR lady or whoever she is seems awfully interested in him. We’ll see if he actually makes it to the altar with Elena! I’m glad someone else remembers the hostage episode from the original series. I agree, I think it was better because they took the time with it. It’s hard when things switch back and forth when they should really just focus on one thing at a time. Can’t wait for the new episode on Monday!
The hostage episode from the original series was great because (a) it had Brian Denehey and (b) the goal of the hostage taking was humilation because JR and Ray slept with the wives of the hostage takers so there was an emotional element. This season’s hostage episode lacked any emotional involvement. I mean, really, would Christopher not react at all when Pamela, the women carrying his babies that he claims to love so much, is being threatened. It wasn’t that long ago that they were married and I find it hard to believe that he would have so little emotional residue for her since her is so over the top mad at her. Christopher is a d*ck.
Can’t wait for the new ep on Monday too. Although Gary looked like crap on this week’s episode. Dude really needs a new hairstyle. Really.
