Dallas Recap: The Sentencing That Never Ends

Dallas

In court, Harris is on the stand telling everyone how horrible Ann is and that she has no remorse.  Ann finally asks Lou where everyone is.  I’m glad that she is just now wondering where her entire family is.

Christopher and henchman #1 arrive at Ewing Energies.  Henchman #1 has Vicente on speed dial and is ready to text him orders to kill Elena.  Christopher tries to throw the methane patent at him and the guy drops his gun but holds on to the cell phone.  Who holds on to the cell phone?  With the gun, you could at least shoot him and then take the phone back.  He asks Christopher who has is quicker and we go to commercial.

It’s finally time for Ann’s sentencing and the jury (?) decides on probation.  Does Texas have a whole different legal system?  Doesn’t the judge decide on the sentencing?  Judith calls for a mistrial and the judge threatens to hold her in contempt.  The Judge tells Harris that if he had done to him what he did to Ann, he probably would have shot him, too.  So we are all agreed – Harris is a complete a-hole.

We find out that Christopher is obviously not quicker because he is being escorted back to South Fork by Henchman #1.  Vicente decides that he is going to take Elena home with him – sort of a South Fork souvenir.  As they are heading outside, Drew is getting home and sees the helicopter getting ready to land for Vicente.  Inside the house John Ross and Christopher stage what has to be the lamest fight ever and distract the henchmen.  Christopher runs outside to save Elena, but Drew ends up shooting Vicente with some kind of sniper rifle.  The helicopter just leaves and nobody seems alarmed that a random shooter took him out.  Bobby and John Ross are leading the henchmen outside and everyone is happy.  Bobby points out that they are stronger together than apart.  Ann shows up and all is right with the world…Almost.

John Ross is introducing Sue Ellen to everyone at Ewing Energies as the newest Board Member.  Bobby can’t believe that Sue Ellen is going through with her plan.  John Ross tells Bobby to shake it off and that he was the one that said they are stronger together.  Bobby vows to take them down.  Seeing as how last week is the ‘end of JR Ewing’ that shouldn’t be too hard.

Well everyone – I’m pretty proud of myself for getting this done so quickly!  Next week should be exciting if not a tearjerker.  What do you think – Is Sue Ellen going to be the new JR? Do you think the weather is getting nice enough for John Ross to be without a shirt? Do you think Bobby needs to ease up on the family war?  Is Lou the worst lawyer on Earth?  I love to hear opinions, so please post comments!

Lou has quite the lucrative legal career! A lawyer that covers murder, divorces, and business contracts, and probably other types of law. I am in the wrong line of work! As always, I love your recaps and snark! I am really enjoying this season of Dallas and while I will miss JR, I am curious to see who will step into his shoes. And of course, the sooner we see John Ross without his shirt would be better!

John Ross does need to take off his shirt so I can stop staring at his curled up nose. Maybe it’s just me, but profile shots are not his friend.

Mr. Dancer and I were yelling at Christopher after he his tossed his methane thingy at the thug. Christopher grabbed the gun, WTF was he waiting for? Just SHOOT HIM!!! Don’t wait to see if he’ll give up!!! What kind of Texan does that? Seriously, he should have to give up his man card.

I found the scene with everyone being held captive until Christopher came back so super odd…. everyone off just chatting… Folks you may Die…. Come on.

They did something similar in the original series. JR and Ray Krebs were found to have been fooling around with some married women, and their husbands drove to Southfork, with a huge wind storm brewing, to do some justice. They had Lucy, Pam, Sue Ellen, and Miss Ellie all trapped, and the JR and Ray came back but couldn’t do anything. Bobby and Jock saved the day. I was thinking of this when I was watching this episode.

    1. Judith Light’s fake Southern/Texan accent is the absolute worst, and is fooling no one. I fast forward through her scenes, as the “accent” is an affront to my Southern-ness.
    2. John Ross is the best, but needs to wear less shirt.
    3. I find the Christopher/Elena story line very unnatural, but also very similar to Bobby and Pam #1 from the original series.
    4. Thanks for a great recap!

Am I the only one who detests Christopher. I don’t just mean that I dislike him. I find him vile. He is so pompous and, if I got engaged to my cousin’s fiance (um no that wouldn’t happen), I would think that I would have the decency not to flaunt it constantly. I know that Jesse Metcalfe is a crappy actor (he sure was on Desperate Housewives – at least when his shirt was on and I noticed his acting) but is Christopher supposed to be so unlikable? At least Bobby was likable in the original series and Patrick Duffy knew how to play a hothead without making him look like a schmuck.

@Patty I remember the hostage episode from the original series. It was done much better – maybe because it took a whole episode. (Or maybe there was no Christopher back then) Wow things move at a fast pace on this show.

Hantz Down: I agree about Christopher. He is always either threatening someone, trying to be a badass, or he is trying to get someone to do the right thing and then acting all incredulous when they don’t do it. Like Rebecca and Emma. I don’t know what he’s trying to prove. And yeah, I think it’s a little sick to go and flaunt his relationship right in John Ross’s face. Who knows, that PR lady or whoever she is seems awfully interested in him. We’ll see if he actually makes it to the altar with Elena! I’m glad someone else remembers the hostage episode from the original series. I agree, I think it was better because they took the time with it. It’s hard when things switch back and forth when they should really just focus on one thing at a time. Can’t wait for the new episode on Monday!

The hostage episode from the original series was great because (a) it had Brian Denehey and (b) the goal of the hostage taking was humilation because JR and Ray slept with the wives of the hostage takers so there was an emotional element. This season’s hostage episode lacked any emotional involvement. I mean, really, would Christopher not react at all when Pamela, the women carrying his babies that he claims to love so much, is being threatened. It wasn’t that long ago that they were married and I find it hard to believe that he would have so little emotional residue for her since her is so over the top mad at her. Christopher is a d*ck.

Can’t wait for the new ep on Monday too. Although Gary looked like crap on this week’s episode. Dude really needs a new hairstyle. Really.
