Desperate Housewives has had its difficulties since its debut in 2004, includig a bafflingly off-kilter second season that had many viewers claiming it jumped the shark before the stars and producers could dust off the awards from the first season. But now as it’s rolling into its fourth season on ABC, creator-producer Marc Cherry has found yet another way to pound the nail into the camp dramedy for good.

He’s thinking of doing a musical episode.Cherry’s floating that trial balloon with aged gossip Liz Smith on this slow extended holiday weekend news morning.

And at least part of the cast is said to be up with it. Teri Hatcher performed on Broadway in Cabaret and Nicollette Sheridan warbled a tune on a her boyfriend Michael Bolton’s recent album. The rest of the girls can fight among themselves.

(Update: Housewife Eva Longoria is getting marrying French NBA champion Tony Parker, outside Paris on Saturday.)
