Courtney Cox hasn’t actually been knocking over critics or wowing viewers playing a tabloid magazine editor in her Fx series, Dirt, so it was always a matter of time before she used her Friends connection and convinced David Schwimmer to play a celebrity caught with a live girl or a dead boy. But she must really be desperate because she’s cashing in her biggest chit by convincing her real-life pal and tabloid sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, to not only play her archrival– but to go beyond.TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is floating this tidbit: “Aniston’s character is a lesbian. What’s more, she won’t just mouth off to Cox’s tightly wound counterpart; she’s going to share a lip lock with her.”
Lip lock. What, no tonsil hockey? We always thought Chandler and Joey were more likely to hook upon a very special episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
And it’s funny that Dirt, a vanity series that basically exists to allow celebrity tabloid subjects (Courntey her husband David Arquette) to get some revenge on their alleged tormentors, would give the real tabloids such fodder. An item like Courtney’s vibrator scene, Rick Fox getting it with a strap-on, and now this– would-be movie star Jen’s return to the small screen– is the type of material that real-life tabloid folk usually have to make up.
As we wait for the real thing with the launch of the Tabloid Baby drama series, catch Maniston in the Dirt season finale on March 27th.
