   That’s what he says?!!!

   I never could figure that one out….I figured it was some weird Japanese war cry (a la Banzai!)

   I know those Japanese shows are several years old but I was still surprised at how bloated and jowly Morimoto has become. I mean, come on, he used to the the Chow Yun Fat of the Iron Chefs. Subtracting Chairman Kaga, the other Iron Chefs, Hattori and Fukui-san, Ota, brainless Japanese “starlets,” Kandagawa-san, and the Artist Korn while adding the likes of Bobby Flay means I won’t be going back for seconds. This version looks geared more toward hardcore foodies than to people who watched the original show for its utter whackjobbery (like me) anyway.

   UPN did an Iron Chef America with William Shatner, and it went down as badly as say, an Iron Chef America, hosted by William Shatner.

   Iron Chef America is no Iron Chef, but it still has its moments. Alton Brown is way too serious about his role as host/commentator. The American chairman dresses like a normal person, but he sits up on a raised platform like he thinks he’s a king and smiles a dopey smile at “his” chefs. Judges like Julie Chen talk about the “harmony” and “character” of bizarre food creations. There is still fun to be had.

   yeah, that american chairman is wayyyyy too intense. especially paired with, say, alton brown’s annoyingness…i mean, enthusiasm. …no, annoyingness.

   although, batali ALWAYS gets the really good italian ingredients, like CHEESE and PIZZA DOUGH. okay, the italian chef is clearly going to win those. and he did.

   Ok, so this is all well and good and all, but where is the recap of Hell’s Kitchen? C’mon 2 hours of G-Ram’s wrath. What could be better? Certainly not Iron Chef America.

   everything that Flay jerk makes is “corn encrusted.”
