It’s a Giada Disaster!!

Food Network

Ever wonder what would happen if one of our favorite Food Network chefs created something they actually didn’t like? Well, we were lucky enough to witness such an event when Giada De Laurentiis of Everyday Italian attempted to make some sort of sorbet. She claimed on the air that her facial expressions of disgust and malaise were merely a reaction to the icy treat, but we know better. Behold the Great Giada Disaster of 2006.

giadaicea
Giada eagerly anticipates the first taste of her cranberry sorbet. What culinary splendors await??

giadaiceb
Here we go!

giadaicec
“Mmmmm…”

giadaiced
“Wait a second. This doesn’t taste right.”

giadaicee
“I think I’ve made a huge mistake.”

giadaicef
“Oh dear lord.”

giadaiceh
“OH DEAR LORD!!”

giadaicei
“Must… be… brave…”

giadaicej
Never willing to admit a mistake, Giada reluctantly goes in for another taste.

giadaicek
“How did I do this? I’m so stupid! STUPID STUPID STUPID!!”

giadaicel
“I mean, it tastes like salty barnacles.”

giadaicem
“I’m in such a f*ckin’ bad mood now.”

giadaicen
“I mean… this is really good! See! I’m smiling!”

giadaiceo
“MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP!!”

giadaicep
“It actually burns. Seriously, someone call a medic. MEDIC!!”

giadaiceq
“It’s as if Lucifer himself has served me a slushy!”

giadaicer
“I’m ruined!”

giadaices
“Mommy.”

giadaicet
But as always, Giada rebounds with her trademark smile. Can’t keep her down for long!

The best one has to be #4—Wait a second. This doesn’t taste right. I almost coughed up my gnocchi, if you know what I mean.

Is it trouper? I don’t want to get the Spelling Gestapo’s panties in a twist when they are getting ready for a night on the town. I have no clue… About anything.

I’ve always told everyone I know… the woman doesn’t smile, she just bears her teeth. It’s creepy. But excellent post!

I think it’s “trouper”, LQ, but then I have a couple drinks in me.

    I agree with m_ruv, #4 is best.

What was IN that crud? And why didn’t she whomp up a test batch?

My sides are splitting! I agree, this is the best.post.ever!! It looks like she is really thinking these exact thoughts. This has to be better than a video clip, but I would love to see that, too. Thanks, B-Side.

OMG that totally KICKS ROCKS! How funnyyyy…

    and LizardQueen – it’s Trouper –
    Pronunciation: ‘trü-p&r
    Function: noun
a person who deals with and persists through difficulty or hardship without complaint (you’re a real trouper to wait so long)

I just watched it….OUTSTANDING!! (Thanks for the heads-up). In a sense, though, it was a little stranger to hear Michael Chiarello (is that Italian for “in the closet”?)talking about “shaving his Peccorino” in the episode of his show that followed Giada.

B-Side – I can’t believe you completely skipped over the best part of this episode. At the very beginning, Giada is coating a chicken with salt and pepper, and at one point it looks like she’s giving hand-release to the drumstick. Great stuff. (If you have this saved on TiVo, please post some pics!)

Keep up the good work B-Side. My wife has a strange crush on you thanks to your hilarious recaps…
