In honor of Thanksgiving, TVgasm will be devoting all of Thursday to that most festive of holiday channels, the Food Network. Be sure to check in frequently to read our takes on Giada, Paula, Ina, Alton, Rachel, Sandra, the Chairman, and more. Finally, these humble chefs get the snark they so deserve.

I hope you’ll answer my #1 Most Burning Question: Did The Chairman on the Japanese edition of Iron Chef inherit his wardrobe from Freddie Mercury?

Inquiring (or easily entertained) minds want to know.

Oh my Gad! You guys don’t have anywhere to go? Come over to my mom’s for breakfast, the Turkey Day Race, and then the most finely cooked feast in all the land. My puts everyone on Food Network to shame. Or at least looking over their shoulder.
P.S. To Holy terror- I never saw that guy wearing skintight white Levi’s with a Superman wife beater, but I’m dying to!

    Lizardqueen –

I know where you live (you wrote it once) and I know what race you speak of and I’ve participated in it several times. Nothing like stopping for a beer at the Hungry Tiger on the way!

And rest assured, yours truly will be enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones. I promise. Just because their initials are T.V. and D.V.R. it doesn’t mean I won’t have fun. Peace.

Lizardqueen, It was the earlier Freddie I was thinking of — with the black catsuit, monkey-fur coat, balack nail polish, and Richard III hairdo.

Another Iron Chef question: Don’t they introduce everyone twice? The opening takes 10 minutes! I’d rather see The Chairman on his “travels,” moving UNNOTICED through Paris in his Harlequin-collared satin Flying Monkey suit, cruising for a chef.

I think the real question we should all be asking is:

When doesn’t Ina roast turkey for dinner?? Keep the FN snark coming, B-Side. Happy Turkey Day!

Yes holyterror, I was teasing you. Wasn’t that the worst hair ever? I actually have a huge crush on short haired, bucktoothed, mustachioed, alive Freddie. I know, very bizarre. He has no equal in the vocal world that I’ve ever heard.

s.g.dub-Yes, I have stumbled home one eyed from the Tiger many a night, or afternoon, or whatever. I don’t run [I'm a sprinter ;) ] I stand at the end of my mom’s street and whistle and yell obnoxious things like “Woo-woo, first guy dressed up like a turkey!!! Alright Blues Brothers!!!” And crap like that. So if you ever hit the road race again and hear some loud crazy person, please come up and say hello.
re #3- I meant that my mom puts other cooks to shame. Did you get that? I’m so duh.

Lizardqueen, I thought about it, and I’d really like to see the Chairman made over from old Freddie to new Freddie. Wouldn’t that be great, if he suddenly came out one episode with his chest exposed and leather chaps and a leather biker cap? We should put it in the suggestion box at Food Network.

His hair currently looks like Ben Stiller’s teenage hair in “There’s Something About Mary.” Or Jerry Seinfeld’s on the episode when his shower had no water pressure. I don’t understand center parts, especially on a frightwig.

We should also submit captions for what he’s thinking when he bites that yellow pepper every episode and makes that wierd smiley face.

Road Race update: Well, I pulled my antics down the street. And like EVERY year, I’m saying I’ll be running next year instead of yelling obnoxious commentary at the runners. (15,000 racers just collectively said “Thank Christ!”). And I will be in costume. Happy Thanksgiving to TVGasm members everywhere.

SAD HOLIDAY NEWS. You all may have heard that Ruth Mien, the lady that invented Stove Top Stuffing, has died. I have been told that Sandra Lee will be holding a memorial service tomorrow in Aisle 8.

I just finished watching Paula’s Thanksgiving special, and I have a question for the throngs: Do you think it’s 1) the host’s responsibility to accomodate the dietary restrictions of her guests, or is it 2) the guest’s responsibility to gratefully consume what’s been made for them? I think it’s the former.

    Discuss.

Okay … now I’m watching RR, and I must say that though I hate her (it’s good she can make a meal in 30 minutes, because if she were my roommate or guest, I’d kill her in about 45 minutes) the idea of baking individual servings of stuffing in muffin pans is brilliant — everyone gets crustiness!

Retraction: I screwed my own post.

I meant to say that it’s the guest’s responsibility to savor what’s offered with gratitude and lack of diet-related pissiness.

    Mea culpa.

Sandra Lee should set a tablescape for Ruth Miens casket or something. Out of respect. Maybe a little cool whip around her mouth or something.

Lizardqueen, glad you made it to the race. We skipped it this year because of the snow. I don’t run it of course. I drink and yell at the runners.

    Good times….

Edhill, you must be in my cheering section next Turkey Day. I really am gonna run. You can’t live here and not run at least once. What’re you from the South? That snow shouldn’t have kept you in. The crowd was lame and tame this year. I was out there screaming alone. I did not see the Blues Brothers this year. I hope they didn’t break up. One guy got his loincloth ripped off. Quite an education for all the kids standing about. Good times indeed!
