Game Shows

shatnerOops! He did it again! Did you ever get the feeling that one day, WIlliam Shatner would wake up, look at himself in the mirror, and say “What’s going on? I’m William Shatner!”, and then his whole world would implode? Well, I hope Bill didn’t look into the mirror this morning, because we just got word that his new game show, Show Me The Money has been cancelled after a five episode run that would barely make the producers of Emily’s Reasons Why Not jealous. After pulling in ratings that would make even Kevin Reilly and Jeff Zucker embarrassed, ABC has decided to pull the plug.

The Broadcast Newsroom reports that this announcement comes after ABC had order six new episodes to air in January, but failed to mention that these six episodes were ready to go after the writers and research staff circled the wagons and put in 16-hour days over the last few weeks.

Now, there are many things that were wrong with the show, but let’s blame this one on Shatner. Not only does he have a habit of killing Game Shows (Iron Chef USA anyone?), but clearly didn’t deserve an Emmy Nomination for Boston Legal this year either. Combine that with the abomination that is William Shatner In Concert, and I think things have finally come full circle. Let’s hope it’s back to dot-com commercials and Star Trek conventions from here on out.
