Who trusts Tucker Carlson?

Game Shows

carlsondance.jpgtucker.jpgMore credibility embarrassment from MSNBC, fresh off its cancellation of Don Imus‘ radio show telecast. One of their “news anchors,” boyish conservative talking head Tucker Carlson, has signed on become a game show host.

The elitist Carlson was once known for wearing bowties, is best known to his own generation for a spanking he received from Jon Stewart before he was fired from CNN (see it here), and was most recently mocked for being the first pseudo-celeb voted off the third season of Dancing with The Stars. Now, the folks who imported The Weakest Link will have him front Who Do You Trust, a pilot for CBS.

Who Do You Trust? is, of course, a remake of an old quiz show.
Johnny Carson hosted the original from 1957 to 1962. That’s where he met Ed McMahon, who was the announcer.

Carlson is not a pioneer in the news-to-smarmy game show host transition. Dreamy Anderson Cooper (who, like Carlson, sports two last names) hosted The Mole, Nixon staffer Ben Stein had a show on Comedy Central and Today‘s Meredith Vieira hosts Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? And then there’s Jerry Springer.
