Hell’s Kitchen (Part 2) Minicap!

By PopePhilly | | 10:48 am | 5 Comments

Another episode of “Hell’s Kitchen,” another batch of completely screwed up seafood.

Sheep are chased, lamb is served raw, Robyn and Barbie are paired up (OBVIOUSLY not in a set up by the producers to create more drama) in the challenge, and the women have to put testicles in their mouths. Sounds like a pretty normal day in Hell’s Kitchen.

Who assigns stations? Is it the producers? Otherwise, I would think that the teams could figure out by the fourth service somebody to put on appetizers who can cook scallops. Same for the meat station and wellingtons, and the fish station. But, nooooooooo.

The Israeli former army guy who cried like a little girl over his boo-boo really surprised me — those guys are supposed to be tough. The previews tried to make us think he lost his finger, so I knew his finger was alright since I wise to their lying preview edits . . . but really, it turned out to be a minor cut, and Ramsay was laughing at him.

Amen, @crankyguy! In the “cast bios,” Dana lists her signature dish as “pan-seared scallops.” Maybe she should have been making them ALWAYS!

    **warning…minor spoilers**

I thought Ramsey assigned stations (with input from Sous Chefs and Producers). I could have sworn that was something they talked about EARLY on (like Seasons 1-3). I also am pretty sure they know pretty much what station they are working from early on in the day (like when they prep the stations), with the exception of when he pulls people out (ie: chefs as waiters or table-side service). Someone made a point last week that the edits seem to be trying to make us sympathize and “like” Barbie – because she likely goes far in the competition – I saw that in the second episode during dinner service. She HAD to be on desserts, we basically never saw her! It was like the Producers were telling Ramsey to let someone else take the heat for the second episode!

Of course, I think anyone who gets the dessert station in the first 4-6 episodes is getting a free pass. COME ON – it’s not like they are going to get to you anyway!

I know I won’t remember this for the fullcap – but when they were eating the lamb balls, did anyone else think about “Lamb Fries”?

You know – from that Chevy Chase movie “Funny Farm”? He breaks the lamb fry eating record and the diner regular and the waitress are talking about how they thought that the original record would last forever and the wife asks why and they say, “Most folks don’t have a taste for testicles anymore.” Haha – I’m cracking myself up thinking about it. But I just kept waiting for the waitress to come out and tell them why hers are so good (hint: “The trick is you’ve got to clip them off way up high…”).

PS – some of those broads seem like they may have had more than just balls in their mouths before. Just sayin’.

@Mummy Butterfly – I made the comment that Barblie likely wins (or at least goes very far). It’s pretty common in reality TV editing. It always seems that the “villian” never wins (save a few exceptions – I’m looking at you, Bachelor Ben and Gretchen from Project Runway 8). The reason is because the winner is edited to not be the bitch/douchebag.
It would make sense for Gordon to set up the stations so he can see how well rounded everyone is as a chef. I didn’t watch the show until some of the later seasons, so I never heard the conversations. I may have to go back and watch them for the comparison.

@Chicken Lips – It just seemed strange that Kimmie was bragging about how many testicles she could eat. I think we should make her a certificate.
