Here comes a hot new Hero

Dania Ramirez, who’s made her mark as Blanca, the single mom who breaks young AJ’s heart in the final seasons of The Sopranos, is joining NBC’s Heroes when it returns in the fall.

The 26-year-old actress has comic book experience, having played the mutant babe Callisto in X-Men: The Last Stand. Her Heroes hero will be named Maya. Her special powers remain under wraps.

Maya is only one of four or five new characters expected to be added to the series next season…
…but she could be the only typical one. Like Maya, m ost of the other other new characters are said to have international flavor, including a sexy boyfriend for Claire, a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Niki’s son and an Irish mobster.

Dania was born in the Dominican Republic, but like a good Sopranos cast member, she graduated friom college in New Jersey. NBC must really like her. She recently co-starred in NBC’s drama’s pilot, Fort Pit.
