What could be worse than listening to Gideon Yago yammer on about “big issues” on MTV? How about watching his artistic interpretation of said issues instead. Yes, the so-earnest-it-hurts “reporter” will soon be weaving his experiences into a searing film about the Iraq war that will surely be full of devastating truths and undeniable power. Focus Films has purchased Yago’s script, Underdog, which centers around two soldiers returning from Iraq: one disgraced, one a hero. Yago told The Hollywood Reporter, “I wanted to tell the story as best as I could, and it came out this way… I’m pleased as punch that someone is taking a chance on this.” We’re pleased as punch too! No word on what Yago’s next project will be, but we’re hoping he’ll be starring in a biopic about the Verizon Wireless guy.
