Newsgasm: When interior decorators attack

Industry

toddoldham.jpgOxygen may have grabbed the hairstylist competition with its new reality series, Tease, but Bravo, with its Project Runway for fashion designers, Top Chef for cooks and maybe that other project for sensitive screenwriters and clueless would-be directors– is cornering the market on interior designers with Top Design.

Everyone involved is taking great pains to insist that Top Design is not a ripoff or spinoff of Runway. Originally set to roll out as Top Designer (does that make it a ripoff of Top Chef?), the show will hit the airwaves in January.

Todd Oldham, the hipster fashionista who now designs home furnishings for Target and La-Z Boy (it’s a living), will be a busy boy in the Heidi Klum role. And the editor-in-chief of Elle Decor magazine will play the same part as Elle‘s fashion director on Runway. But the shows are completely different.

HGTV had Design challenge,or something along those lines, which sounds exactly like this idea…. bravo, Bravo. As long as I don’t have to hear Heide say Nina Garcia any more, I”ll be fine. It just grated on my nerves!!! and what’s up with Jeffrey winning?!

No offense to the fine folks at tvgasm, but a) tabloid baby is writing articles every 5 minutes. b) he’s contributing to the fact that 77% of all of my RSS newsfeeds have to mention “Project Runway”, which I am honestly sick of hearing about.

I’m feeling inundated with TabloidBaby. I don’t read TVgasm for Newsgasm, though it’s always welcome when it’s posted. I read it for the recaps and I’m tired of sifting through the random news that I don’t really care about.

fycin (#6) is right. B-Side & J-Unit would post a Newsgasm when they had something special to report. This every 5 minute Newsgasm is too much. Perhaps Tabloid Baby should get their own blog.

I second (or 5th) these motions. Quantity over quality isn’t a good thing.

I agree — all these “News” items are just too much.

Aren’t you guys being a little harsh? I mean the NewsGasm items are CLEARLY labeled NewsGasm, if you don’t care to read them, you don’t have to.

I personally think there are too many as well but I just ignore them…baby some people like reading them.

I agree with most people on here. Before they would condense a few news tidbits on one post. The overabundance of posts is driving me crazy.

The problem is all the news tidbits push the recaps off. Since the news all link to the same page anyway, I would recommend just listing the most recent news item. Or give it a separate area on the site away from the recaps.

All good ideas above. Condense the posts and take more time to hone the writing.

Could the good folks at tvgasm make two blogs? One for newsgasms and one for recaps? I really dislike having to sift through news to find recaps.
